Working at Honeywell is an exception in pretending

Over the last decade or more, I've really had to polish my acting and pretending skills. On a daily basis, I have to pretend that I care about this place or that I'm happy to be here. I have to pretend right along with the ALT that I'm valued along with the rest of the serfs at HON, and also pretending that all these people voluntarily leaving isn't a HUGE problem.

I actually pride myself on my acting skills! The ability to put on a happy face and literally ignore the dumpster fire that is HON AERO is pretty impressive. Keep on acting my fellow futureshapers! We've got another year of pretending to get through.

Excellent thread and excellent OP.

Before I left I wish I had realised that it doesn’t matter. Just do my 8 hours and go home then rinse and repeat.

Instead I’d go home and work some more. Haha. Foolish me.

Anyway, I left but if you’re still there just do the 8 hr bit or leave for a company that remotely rewards it’s employees with at least average benefits and salary etc

Yep, if the absolute PAIN from honeyhe11 was not enough for you to leave these last 3 years, you will STILL be waiting for your daily torture, come end of 2023.
Anyone STILL at honeyhe11 needs to look up, STOCKHOLM SYNDROME, as you have it in spades, and do not realize it. The captives (you) are identifying with your captors(HON management, first level on up). You are BLIND to the abuse. Do yourself a favor, look Stockholm Syndrome up, and see how closely you relate, and can not escape, even tho the door to freedom is open. Life is 100% better OUTSIDE of the F Palace.

When I leave after this year's MIP payout, I will miss pretending to listen to HR as they spout "the latest thinking in management". I will miss their useless advice as I decide which of my undeserving team members will have to get the outer L rating, the zero percent raise and the obligatory PIP because of the non-quota quota that we have to abide by. I will miss listening to the director essentially fake it as he tries to flow down the latest initiatives, productivity metrics and employee feedback survey results. I will miss lying to my team as I tell them they are valued and that I am working on getting them a promotion. When in fact, promotions are a function of affordability but essentially inner block rating, diversity-only and the whichever the wind is blowing at the time. Remember, you can't spell #futureshaper without first the f and u.
