Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Target, starts at same wage as entry level positions at Allstate

But less stress for $15 and a hefty discount.

It’s almost insulting that insurance and retail would make the same, but that’s where we are now.

When I started at Allstate I was making 15 as a claims processor. When I became a claims adjuster I was making mid 40k. Perhaps the topic creator is referring to express... I know they are overwork with little room for growth...

I have applied so many times to target for a part time job but never could even get an interview lol

Yeah. They’re still hiring people in at $15, regardless if that was 5 years ago, they haven’t raised the starting wage.

And having a few years under your belt you are lucky to make maybe $2 more with the standard ‘expected’ 3% raises. They are incremental.

I started out 5 years ago in unlicensed customer service at $15/hr.

Ummm, $16/hr is not the US Allstate minimum. Band 2 US starts at $26,000.
That is $12/hr.

52 weeks x 40 hours = 2080 paid hours a year.

$26,000 / 2080 hours = $12.50.

And you still have U.S. band 1 which starts even lower.

Guess I will be calling HR Monday. I just passed my 2nd year anniversary and still not up to $14 an hour.

Allstate minimum wage is $16/hr in the US. If you work for the company and make less than that, call HR and ask for your salary to be increased to the minimum.

Claims makes that kind of money. Claims is a very tough job, though. Especially on the property side of the business where you get into a lot of coverage denials.

I think the key words from the OP are "entry level positions at Allstate". Allstate positions start well below $15 An hour in most cases. Sure there are a lit of people making $50,000+ a year at Allstate but many have had to put up with the horrid of this company for some time, drink a lot of blue kool aid, and sell their souls to the Allstate corpirate overlords to get to that position. Looking back and in hindsight I would have selected the Target position gladly over the entry level Allstate position just based on sanity alone. But I am one now that would rather work a menial job for less money than ever go back to Allstate in any capacity again so there's that.

I don’t agree with the OP but I am also curious which positions are making that much.

Believe it or not, it’s hard to move up in some departments... customer service, ASIC, RMBC.

I make more than $15, but sure as heck do not make $50,000... try mid 30’s. Some of my more tenured colleagues may make that, but through promotions.

Please do share which positions are paying 75k.

If you're making $15 an hour and have a job that requires as much skill and knowledge as entry level at Target, that says a lot more about you than Allstate.

Exactly qoe+192jYxAg. Some of us make double that after dedicating years to continuous training. Granted, things have definitely but c-appy and I object to the way the layoffs and outsourcing are going, but I'm doing everything I can to be ready to go

These posts about low salary and comparisons to Uber and retail are b—s—.

You put “insurance” as your job title on your resume? What does that mean? What role? What department? Which city?

There may be people starting at $15 but there are thousands salaried at 50k+, and many more well into six figures.

It really depends on what you are looking for. Over half the jobs at Allstate make over $75k a year. But that does require investing in technical skills and taking on managerial responsibilities over time. So, it might be the same at the entry level but it’s different at other levels. Job vs career, I suppose.

To be fair, most jobs at Allstate pay $50,000 or more.
Plus, we get the $2,000 wellness dollars.

So does in store shopping for online grocery pick up around here. Allstate is just delirious to actually think their wages, entry or tenured, are at all fair and competitive with the industry. There are not even competitve with service industry jobs. They hang the inflated PTO that no one can schedule considering how short staffed most departments are above everyone's head like some kind of brass ring.
