Thread regarding SAP layoffs

What happened to this place???

I came here proud and now I'm just a shell running on fear and threats.

What exactly are you whining about?
You’re salaried workers. Your boss plays the role of some self-appointed lisping sheepdog, barking orders from the corner office, and yet you’re the ones who keep choosing to serve—tails tucked, nerves buzzing, pretending it’s all fine.

The real question isn’t why things are bad.
The real question is why everyone keeps lining up for the leash.
When was the last time you actually went on strike?

A few years ago, my manager saw my frustration, pulled me aside and simply said “let it go man. This is all just theater”.

He then started to help me see the lines drawn between people that are promoted and the people that are planted. It was wild to see the map. Example, most of the Northeast leaders have only a 3 word resume “Call C L**”.

Getting promoted without senior relationships is very rare (if not impossible). You can be the best of the best, solid numbers, good standing and you’ll still loose to somebody that shares a backyard with a senior leader or are the gender “a la mode”.

Keep working. Make money.. dont let this place become your identity.

@v5 Correct. Work in general has become sh--e.

Compared to the other companies, SAP is still great.

@OP i started here 20 years ago, and I honestly don’t recognize the place anymore.
Look, I get it, change happens, but this used to be an incredible place to work. We had strong leadership and people were appreciated. We had opportunities. We had career paths.
Now we are a withered shell of what we were in terms of workplace environment, run by entitled nepotists and level 2 leaders who couldn’t care less about anyone or anything else other than playing politics and “building their brand” on LinkedIn by projecting artificial personalities that are nothing like who they really are.
We effectively replaced leadership and innovation with vanity and self preservation.
And before anyone says it, yes, I quite dislike the company we have become but I have given 20 years of my life here and will be damned if I walk away easily without getting the VERP option so many others got.

Don't let these people get to you. I've just said I don't want to talk politics and I've been accused of being MAGA here. This user (probably one person) is very miserable and are just venting. It's not hurting anyone though. Let the babies cry themselves to sleep. Nobody is going to convince anyone to change their minds on an anonymous online forum.

Though calling out somebody for being white is on brand for SAP. lol

Trust me. The best thing you can do is find something to laugh about or enjoy. They feel like they accomplish something when they make you as miserable as they are.

@jp I think we can all make assumptions based on nothing. Here's mine about you: White, Anglo Saxon with an axe to grind, because you think theres a perceived threat to your social or economic standing. Bullying, name calling, intimidating minority groups (see reference to pro bono for black owned business) and those you see as a treat (read those who do not agree with you unconditionally) Classic example, impossible to hide your hatred. Sound familiar?

Am I missing something here? Somebody just said both sides are fixated on Trump and he/she is being called a cult member. This is such a strange thread.

Either the same person is posting multiple times or the claim that the company caters to far left radicals has just been proven. You sound completely unhinged. You probably do benefit for DEI. Either that or nepotism. If SAP were a proper company they'd have talks with people like you and tell you to reel it in. You likely talk about Trump all day at the office too. I can't tell you how often I come across a group of self unaware dipsh-ts who gather in small groups and complain about politics all day at the office.

Must be nice. Some of us have metrics to meet.

@jg Unfortunately he's one of 8 Billion who has influence and control he should not have. You shouldn't give babies fireworks to play with, it never ends well. Btw, I see the 'what about Biden' defence subtly slipped in. Classic cult behavior

@jh Cult members find it difficult to discern the truth from the fiction fed to them by the one who is alleges leadership.

@g0 There is absolutely no doubt that DEI played a huge role in many hirings at this company. Perhaps you are one of them?

The company has a BlueSky account, has all leftist guest speakers, and sent a congratulations email when Biden was elected but nothing when Trump was. We also have a pro-bono program for black only businesses and public statements taking shots at white people.

They are pretty transparent regarding how pathetically biased they are toward woke ideology. You simply agree with it because you're a simple minded clown who can't be bothered to actually think things through.

@ej fu-k you and the “woke” references. I’ll give you points for hiding your lie amongst a bunch of truth, even if it is carved straight from Right-wing BS 101!

The incredible sales strategy that built SAPs business is no longer sanctioned by SAP operations. McKinseys cost cutting has also emboldened the German philosophy of “our software sells itself” thus hobbling a once very talented and creative sales culture.

Your feeling is coming from the company demanding that you generate revenue why simultaneously carving out the tools that were used to build revenue. Our managers are now also all (mostly) SAP opps or “woke” hires. They’ve simply never done the job they’re demanding that we now do. In the slim chance they have done the role it’s really unlikely that they were successful at it. The real grift is that they’re the ones judging our work and your worth…

@ea Our leaders deserve our respect. Don’t say they are bad at their jobs.

@am Very well said. When I talk to managers it's almost like I'm talking to a recording that stops when I talk then starts back up. Nothing I saw is heard or acknowledged. I've had managers that sincerely vouched for the team and I've had some that at least pretended to listen and offered human feedback. Now it's like they're reading a script.

When current leadership says they're happy to have a conversation what they're really saying is that you're lower than them and don't understand things, so they must educate you. In reality even new hires are more in-tune with what the job requires than seasoned leaders. They're in no place to point fingers. They're very bad at their jobs.

Don‘t complain. Management at other companies is not any better.

In fact, CK and DA are some of the better IT company managers.

And as long as people here can still make Chuck jokes, things cannot be that bad.

@OP really good question.. dynamic, visionary leadership doesn’t exist. We work in survival mode constantly which has contributed to a toxic workplace. When was the last quarter when all the Financial kpi’s hit the target? For the life of me I can’t think of a current “known” industry leader that could get us back on track at this point. We are lucky that our customers rely on their sap skill sets to provide for themselves and family.
