What does the email we received today mean regarding the State Farm equipment you currently has is your’s. Can anyone explain?

@1crb If you believe your job is stable, you may be in for a nasty surprise. Don't be so naive to think that your job can't be replaced when a CEO decides to change course.
SF has excess equipment, that is likely scheduled to be replaced anyway. It would be cheaper to let the reps keep their old monitors and whatnot than to pay for everyone to ship their stuff back to a hub.
That is all this is, agreeing to let go of aged equipment that would have been replaced anyway, and losing the need to pay expensive shipping to send it all back.
They better not go leaner. The effect of that is losing more and more people because being overworked to death is not sustainable.
@1dsa, in UW -- we are hot desking/hoteling/whatever you want to call it. You reserve a cube for your days in office, and it has monitors and a dock. BYO laptop, keyboard, headset, and mouse.
It's not the most annoying thing about being in the office again.
Oh yeah going leaner-that is why there are over 3000 open requisitions. Hey troll, take your lies elsewhere.
SF's about to 'go leaner' and reduce staffing even more
I never got an email along those lines.
So what happens when people come back in the office? Do you have to transport your equipment back and forth weekly or monthly?
Boy, people are so jaded! This was SF being nice and supporting our wfh environment. To the person who said this is outdated equipment, really?! I get to keep my large $1,200 monitor. Those chairs are like $600 a piece.
Consider it a bonus!
I’m assuming this is being driven by the company not wanting to figure out and pay personal property taxes for the equipment based on associates’ various home addresses.
It is cheaper to let the employees keep it than ship it back to be disposed of.
Just the company throwing away outdated equipment. They save money by abandoning it to employees rather than paying a disposal company.
It is the new select a gift.
@uso+1e3N8ZXe - thank you for the explanation!
Essentially everything you have at home with the exception of your CPU is now yours. Mouse, keyboard, monitors, chair, desk, headset, etc. Once you leave the company it is yours to keep or dispose of.
