Thread regarding ViaSat Inc. layoffs

Anyone else had a PandC call?

I just got the call from PandC telling me I get layed off. I did not take the VRP, this is 100% involuntary.
The PandC person told me they are busy with layoffs.
Goodbye and Good Luck.

Don’t listen all the noise from former employees or rival companies that just want to bring the morale down. Viasat didn’t wish for all our parties to be laid off, unfortunately that was the result Viasat had to do it in an effort to reduce costs and to restructure Viasat’s business model. However Viasat still treated them with the respect and dignity they deserve, plus the company knows that they can count on our support in doing the same, so don’t listen to all those Trolls!
Viasat will be back on top once more! No matter what happens, keep getting back up. For every time you get back up, the fall makes you stronger and thrusts you to a new level. Whatever you might be facing. In the end, what matters is how quickly you get back up and take your power back.

I know of 11 cut from enterprise today, looks like all legacy inmarsat, not surprising given most of the people in that group are legacy inmarsat. Whats surprising is they have left the top people in place who put us in the mess we’re in. More VP’s than you can count, would be laughable if it was not so tragic and impacting the lives of so many. The cull will continue and the company will continue its doom loop!

Hi all - it’s USA layoffs this week. Not just Gobal Ops, not just Europe and Asia. Today, in commercial aviation sales, USA.
So calling all layoff deniers - it’s happening and it’s happening in the Hugh Ess of Hay.

Global Operations is going for 10% of the workforce. Starting with legacy Inmarsat because the notice periods for LI (3 to 6 months depending on grade) is longer than for LV. John D. has asked to sack managers, not just the usual working level colleagues. Ironically, people being axed now are immediately being put on garden leave while the VRP have been requested to work their notice. Only difference in the severance package is the extra month that the VRP got on top of it. So LI VRP got 2 to 4 weeks per year of service plus 1 month but are working their notice period, people being laid off this week lose the extra month but will be paid full salary without working.

Lot of anger and fakenews calling here. What would be more helpful is if folks can track and report where these layoffs are happening this week. I know about 1 in commercial aviation in UK

I just had a call from People Culture and the waste of space called my “viasat manager”. I dont know how many are getting axed but People Culture are doing nose to tale calls all day again today. Also all the people I know being axed are inmarsat people. I know 12 so far this week and all in GOPS. Thanks J@son and John D goodbye and thanks for zero loyalty.

Is anyone being fired at legacy Viasat or is it just an Inmarsat pogrom?

Same here. 7 years in Inmarsat, laid off today. Indeed being spared from talking to an arrogant, unlistening, "know it all" Viasat manager is a relief.

Seems the VRP only achieved 300 - 400 of the 1000 required layoffs. Despite the party line (no layoff program) the remaining 600 - 700 layoffs are quietly being done this week. P&C getting overtime checks for firing our peeps.

Don't believe anything you read here - it's complete BS.

It's just a bunch of disgruntled trolls who got laid off a long time ago and have no idea what's going on in the company now. They are posting nonsense and fiction.

I work with multiple teams in the company, and morale is pretty high. Everyone is hard working and dedicated to their jobs. I check Slack at midnight before bed, and so many people still have a green dot next to their name. I get late night emails from Git from people submitting code late. People are handling on call duties on the weekend. Some are even doing it while on vacation, while on maternity and paternity leave, and I've even seen it from a few people who were supposed to be retired.

I don't know anyone who is worried about layoffs. No one is leaving, and, in fact, the company has started hiring again. Of course that doesn't mean there won't be some low performers or people in business units that are no longer a priority let go here and there. But at many recent all hands, not just with Guru and Mark, but with other leaders too, there is a strong sense of optimism and a feeling that the company is moving in the right direction. It's not fake, it is a sentiment shared amongst many people I've talked with.

Look at the company's press releases. New deals and contracts are being announced on a regular basis. There are several other reasons, that cannot be named, to be positive about the future of this company. All I can say is that I have maxxed out my ESPP and cannot believe my good fortune to be acquiring shares at ridiculously low prices.
