Thread regarding USAA layoffs

CHRO unexpected leaving is little fishy

She might have seen the up coming layoff numbers starting Q1 next year. Better jump the ship to avoid public criticism

I really hate the racist/bigoted comments about TOF. I don't like what she did to USAA, but blaming that on her race or gender is just gross and wrong.

Disgusting to know we work with some racist bigot colleagues - almost half the company is military, half women and half people of color ( all who fall under any basic DE&I work) Better yet, can we leave diversity out of the conversation? You just sound hateful at this point. Stop peddling some false narrative about DE&I after your crazy right winged websites. Just because someone is hired who is a person of color, disabled or military doesn’t mean they aren’t qualified. Seek therapy, you have a problem and it shows.

Back-to-back diversity hires to lead HR. First, a CPA in charge of it, then a box checker. Can anyone say USAA has improved since TOF's arrival? This is what happens when you have D.I.E. further infect your company. Thank you Stewie P for bringing this infection here.

My opinion on this:
Wayne was given an ultimatum by the B.O.D, fire her or we fire you. Since TOF was Wayne’s choice for CHRO and she did his dirty work, he asked her to resign instead of firing her, just to save face. A company can only run so long with employee morale in the grave, and it’s been that way going on 4 years, it was bad under Stuart, and it gotten worse with Wayne’s world. I think the B.O.D is starting to see it, and if the company suffers another loss while employee morale keeps declining, we’ll have a new CEO this time next year, and that person will be tasked with improving morale. Possibly discounted food in the cafe, going back to 3 days if not 2 for RTO and opening back up remote work. Seeing attendance from the San Antonio Holiday Party should be an eye opener. Sadly, we’ll need to experience more of Wayne’s BS for another 12-15 months.

Do you mean that she did not give notice, did not negotiate her last day?

Oh, wow. If that's the case, she was angry. She was definitely fired in that case.

Is that true about the town hall? She was on vacation and just said “eff it.”?

Regardless of anything that is said, honestly, do you believe them?

I really do not "feel sorry" for TOF. She got caught in the web that she helped to design and build. I feel sorry for all of the folks harmed while ensnared in that web and who may have suffered irreparable harm. I feel sorry for those falsely fired, laid off or forced out. I hope that those folks have landed safely.

As far as TOF goes, she collected her money. It is time for her to gather up her bag of tricks and exit the building.

So is she retiring or stepping away for health issues? Why the back and forth? Honesty (or whatever story you choose) would be best told the first time around and then stick with it.

I truly wish her well and if she goes on to another company, I hope from this experience she will have some back bone and not let another CEO use her as a tool. It is quite damaging when you give up your voice and become a “yes” person.

"Nowhere, not anywhere, did anyone post the cr-p that you are posting. You take a small piece of what someone wrote and completely turn it around into a rage filled rant. Constantly tearing others down is pathetic, regardless of who they are. How many years of executive leadership experience do you have? I am guessing the answer is zero because no true leader does not tear people down, they build people up. You are obviously upset by USAA rules of employment. If you don't like USAA, then leave. It is that simple. Feel free to spread your pathetic lies elsewhere. Take responsibility for your own career and just move on."

Tamla! Welcome to the forum!

"Definitely fired, otherwise she could have at least waited for the bonus"

Executives don't have the same bonus structure we mortals do. I'm pretty sure she'll be receiving the deferred comp she is due. And whatever bonus is accrued as well.

So the official line is that TOF made cr-ppy life decisions and exercised incredibly or judgment apparently for the entire time she was at USAA and is now suffering for it. And now oh boy isn't it wonderful that she is rich enough to be able to walk away from it all now that she realized how stupid and neglectful she was this whole time.

If that's the case then every decision she made while she was exercising such horrible and destructive judgment ought to be called into question. Because apparently she was wrong about everything. But nope, she gets to be kind to herself and take a couple thousand spa days, but her victims will just have to deal with the fallout of her terrible decisions.

And that's the best spin they could come up with.

Pathetic.

Had an HR townhall today - she decided to retire early due to work stress since she had a 30 year career and financial means to do so. Was on her first vacation in 18 months and came back and decided the stress wasn’t worth the stress. If I could, I would too!

It may be fishy, but avoiding criticism due to coming layoffs can't be it. That's muggle talk. C-suite types laugh at such concerns. Weathering public criticism for painful layoffs is actually valuable resume padding for an HR hatchet woman like TOF.
