Are managers allowed to make any kind of announcement to let their teams know they are safe? It is really starting to worry me that my manager hasn’t said anything either way.

20% is probably total over the future planned rifs if it's a real number, but 10%-12% seems pretty accurate, overall. My group (which I won't name so don't ask) lost over 10%. Reddit threads are reporting even higher numbers in their departments. One is nearly 50%, another is just over 20%.
SVP confirmed "RIFs are happening as we speak" and "our area is safe." This meeting was for a different topic, but he/she did open with that, knowing we are all concerned.
We had a meeting place on calendar an hour ahead of time and we were advised one person on team was rifed give. Pto today and tomorrow last day 9/6
While a company-wide RIF IS happening there is NO WAY it is as big as some of the people on this site have been stating. 10 to 20 percent was thrown out a lot ....folks that 10,000 to 20,000 people. A company like this wouldn't survive. So while I believe a lot of what I have read, I am always cautious about the numbers. Regardless, it still su-ks
We had a “ we’re ok” meeting. Scared the cr@p out of us waiting for the impromptu meeting.
There was a short teams meeting after the 2 nurses affected on our team had been informed and they left for rest of day.
It's all scripted and orchestrated--what is shared and when. Was laid off this morning and could tell my manager was reading some prepared talking points. I know this because I've been asked to do the same thing in the past.
A manager is allowed, but not required, to call a team meeting (or have individual discussions) and let the staff know how the team is impacted and that the remaining people are safe (for the time being off course). BUT ONLY AFTER all notifications for that team have been completed.
They can't say anything until all the RIF meetings have occurred.
The RIF back in January we did have a last minute meeting invite and were told who was in the RIF At that time I didn’t even know one was coming so wasn’t freaked out when I got a last minute invite
That is really awful. So many people are feeling a lot of anxiety today waiting and wondering if they still have a job. To drag this out over three days is cruel.
They never announce. We will get an email on how to manage through “change”
I know of several people who have been RIFd today and have not heard from any “people leaders” about it yet.
These things have been happening for a while now and it's never been acknowledged by any people leader I know for a year now. Some jusy won't say a thing either way.
Same here, just silence 🤫
