And the cuts won't be about "saving money" but organizing dept differently for their politics. And the people are in the "It crowd "will always be accommodated and not laid off in any reorg. And if you're a manager you're almost always protected from laid off. And I know CS agents are always sacrificed for cuts easily, but sorry I don't think it's fair to compare their cuts with let's say e13/e14s people. Their cuts are standard across the business. What makes anthem ultra shady across all competitors is how lousy and unqualified the middle management can be and still keep their job and prosper. Managers in anthem are viewed more as administrative baby sitters so hiring someone with no qualifications is ok for them.

In my experience, managers either don't even know when their people are on a list (I've seen it happen twice, where they find out FROM the riffed employee), or their back is against the wall.
I suspect this round is a combination. In my org, I don't know exactly what is going to happen tomorrow, but what I DO know is that if anyone on our team is impacted, it was against our leader's will.
It's not always manager driven, from my experience. It doesn't seem to be value-driven either. More about popularity and if you're worth keeping. I had a key director role and was RIFd and my team was left holding their **cks in their hands because the position elimination wasn't thought out. Sure enough, they re-created the role 6 months later because it was needed and put a younger person in.
Hmm .. not sure about managers being protected from lay offs .. if anything else I believe they are more susceptible given there positions can easily be taken over by someone else … over my 25 years in this company I have had lost so many of my managers let go and replaced until I was finally let go. This is how it was in IT during my time.
Somewhat true yes about managers but there's not a lot of room for growth there. Won't go into details. But now once again they are collapsing the levels of management to ' 7 layers' that Gail built. So there will be some changes for those organizations undergoing those changes to meet the with 7 layers.
I'm guessing either an executive or someone in the "in crowd" is down voting the recent posts. They can down vote until their thumb falls off, the fact remains that this place still su-ks! #FACTS
