Does Opentext pay bonus for laid off employees for FY 2024

I left OpenText a gew years ago because of bullying. Directors and Vice president's yelling and bullying people in meetings, in front of other people was not acceptable. I found this mentality to be something supported by the management based in the USA. Reported this to HR who basically said they could do nothing if I wasn't willing to out my name to it. Upon leaving the company, they had my permission but still did nothing! This is totally illegal behavior by Ontario law. The company has diverged so vastly from the company formed by the 3 original professors from Waterloo and has lost it's vision, all for the mighty dollar. Never work for a company that is operated by US management.

And you have rights by law as to what you are entitled to. DO MlNOT sign what they put in front of you when they let you go. They may say that they only have to pay a gew weeks severance according to provincial law but that is not true.

Just got let go today out of the blue. Severance was minimal as could be, if it happens hope you have some PTO you haven't burned yet. Foolishly thought our department would be hit, we're small and always thought we were mission critical for them to make any money off the 365 side of things, but over the last few years I've watched what was a good company get reduced to next to nothing after they bought us out, shriveling Zix-Appriver up to less than a husk.

@2emm+1tibazbt I also got let go yesterday. I was with OT for almost 15 years. I witnessed the decline in our customer and partner retention over the last 2 years. Our support personnel got moved to India and the Philippines and most of them speak little English. They don't know how to use the new SNOW/IAM system. Customers and partners are looking for other solutions for their business needs. They don't want to do business with OT anymore. It's sad how I watched a company I loved so much and enjoyed working for go to pieces under Mark B. He's money-hungry and his ego is a little too large.

Opentext is also replacing all the white people with foreign workers. Many who are completely unqualified for their position. If you find yourself unlucky enough to have to report to one of them and experience discrimination, complaining to HR will get you nowhere except placed on the list for the next round of layoffs!

July 2nd 2024. The mass firings have begun again! I was one of the family given the pink slip today! There motto of better together until we don’t need you anymore! The CEO Mark B and the other higher ups keep their inflated salary while the stock is crashing! Mismanagement at the highest level!

@tpv+1tibazbt Are you in USA?

severance varies. Depends on what country's laws have to be followed.
Seems like a few people in Canada have said that they are maxing severance at 10 weeks.
If they lay off a big % of people in Canada at one location they may be forced to surrender more than 10 weeks.
If you don't have a lot of years with OT you might only get a few weeks severance.
Not sure what US employees get.

Anyone aware of the types of packages being offered? I'm nearly 15 years

Ha, ha, Mark resigning?

That is not going to happen as long as there's a chance he becomes chairman or the company gets acquired (at this value it's probably tempting to a few big players).

Question is will you wait to be part of the next round if you survived this one or will you exit on your own terms?

Rumor is it is 5-8% of the company.

Those in the US that I know personally who were cut were high wage and/or individual contributors.

No India wont be hit. $25k-30k USD is upper income there.

Rumor is Mark B, the CEO is going to resign.

This is not a union shop best thing to do is to start looking even if you survive this round. Otherwise it’s rinse and repeat every 3 months.

It's time we address the pressing issues that have created a hostile work environment and take decisive action to make our workplace safe, enjoyable, and productive again. Here are the necessary steps we must take:

  1. Leadership Change: We need a leadership review. Concerns about Mark's management style and performance must be formally documented and reviewed by higher authorities or the board of directors. Our voices need to be heard.
  1. Open Communication Channels: We must establish regular town hall meetings and anonymous feedback mechanisms. This will allow everyone to voice their concerns and suggestions without fear of retribution.
  1. Transparency in Financials: We demand transparency regarding the company's financial health and the criteria for layoffs. Clear information can build trust and reduce our anxiety.
  1. Employee Compensation Review: A thorough review of our compensation and benefits is essential. We need to push for fair and competitive wages, particularly when executive compensation is disproportionately high.
  1. Well-being Programs: Implement programs that promote our well-being, such as mental health support, stress management workshops, and recreational activities. A positive work culture is vital.
  1. Professional Development: Investing in our growth through training and development programs will create pathways for career advancement and job security.
  1. Recognize and Reward: Establish a system to recognize and reward hard work and achievements. This will foster a culture of appreciation and motivation.
  1. Work-Life Balance: Promote policies that support work-life balance, such as flexible working hours, remote work options, and adequate time off. Our well-being should be a priority.

These actions are non-negotiable if we want to transform our current environment into a positive, safe, and enjoyable workplace. It's time we come together and demand these changes for the betterment of everyone.

Last Friday I recieved my 15 year award. This morning my RVP read a script like he was a robot outlining my work was done @ OT. I think some bots show more compasion. Three weeks ago he was sending Teams messages late @ night providing materials & support for what I was working-on. 10 weeks, laptop shut-off in 20 mins.

Lost 3 from a team of 10. From one of their Aviator branded products too, if that matters.
