Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Layoff Disclosure to our next employer?

I recently got laid off from Wells Fargo, and now I am looking for a new gig elsewhere. But I am aware that there is still a huge stigma attached to the laid-off employees. Does Wells Fargo disclose the reason for termination to our next employers?

People know that Wells Fargo has harmed consumers and was assessed damages and an asset cap. Their reputation is poor and any advisor working for them lacks good judgment. The issue is wells Fargo not the employees

I do remember when I worked at one major firm and another major firm was laying off employees month after month... We had managers in my firm that were ex employees from the firing firm know that layoffs from a certain month were the underperformers and needs improvements. So when they applied with our firm and we saw those dates it was an instant NO..

Also— I’m not sure if this is a fast and hard rule, but in my experience in the last few interviews and I’ve had the HR departments have also said that they are not allowed to ask what my salary was when I left. I’m not sure if they can validate that in any other way I’d be interested to hear someone’s opinion on that.

There isn’t any stigma whatsoever attached to being laid off. If anything, if you’ve been fired for cause here in the last few years, just camouflage it by saying you were laid off. Naturally, this doesn’t apply if you’re FINRA securities licensed—in that case, voluntary vs. involuntary is noted on your U5 filing when you depart.

I have former employees and contractors completely lying on Linked In as to what their position was and their accomplishments. They get away with it because Wells Fargo won’t provide any substantive details of their employment. It is no wonder why so many good workers struggle to find new jobs because so many scoundrels are lying about their job history.

Future employers only get dates of employment via an automated number. When asked in interviews why I left/wanted to leave, I was honest and said I was one of hundreds laid off that month due to RIF... And had 2 solid offers within 40 days. Most companies are very understanding on start dates, I was able to start right after my notice period was up.

Just concentrate on updating your resume and the interviews you get... And know that STAR interview cr-p doesn't fly with a lot of companies, lol

dont take a new outside job during the 60d notice period or you will risk losing your severance. just tell your new employer than you have X days left of "garden leave"

Can you look for a job during 60-day notice, yep, but you are still a WF employee and if you want to get your severance, I would hold off. No, they don't share your salary, no company does nowadays. They only share your title and when you worked. They do not say you were fired, laid off, quit, etc.

What happens during 60 day notice period? Will they say you are still an employee or that you were terminated?

I believe they can still say if you are eligible for rehire but no reasons.

Future employers have to call a number to verify your employment at WF and it is all automated, they don’t even talk to anyone!

Just show them a copy of your annual performance review which will prove that your are an outstanding employee.

WF will not disclose a reason. They will just state the termination date.

You tell them, laid off due to RIF, because that's what it was and that's what most companies use as the main reason now. Then say you were shocked because you were a great employee, yada yada yada yada.

So many companies are laying off employees, there's no stigma. They all understand and might even be laying off employees themselves.

tell your new employee or potential new employer whatever you want. All wells can tell them is if you used to work there or not

You were laid off and not fired which in Most cases will be because of bad behavior. I got laid off from WF last year and was offered a job within one month of being laid off. I disclosed to them during the interview that WF laid me off because of restructuring within their home mortgage department. I was not the only one that was laid off, in fact we were the last set of mortgage employees that were being let go in my state which is not a hub. Your new employer should never use that against you because it was never your fault and organizations do this all the time.
