We all know layoffs are very likely in the near term. Vicki, if you are reading this, we ask for equality In the next round of layoff. VP, managers, directors, leads should be on the list as well. Just because they have the management positions within Oxy should not make their families any better than ours. Why should the families with lower income always suffer more than those who have been enjoying bigger paychecks? They are at better chance to “weather the storm” anyway assuming they have saved up more money than us before all this started.
You mentioned that we need to focus on values. I couldn’t agree more. In fact, we should have done that over the past few years while growing in Permian. How much values were destroyed by all these greedy Permian managers, directors, leads, etc. I have been with Oxy for close to 10 years now, and I am really disappointed with the type of people that got promoted over the past couple of years. How many of these directors, for example, were intentionally drilling bad wells? How honest have they been with their AFE? It is not too complicated to put a value on someone now based on what they have truly delivered in the past. This will be a fair game to those managers who had actually done good things for the company in the past. Focus on the assets that were (consistently) delivering negative values and start asking questions about who, what, and why.
I certainly am not asking to lay off only managers, directors, VP, leads, etc. I just think we should be valued equally in the decision making process. This is especially important when you already have way tooooooo many managers in the organization to begin with. You need us worker bees to get the jobs done. If we are working from home more in the future, these meeting-goers don’t really deliver much value going forward.
