@1a5 Don't forget - you have to use the correct term of "fresher."

@1cm Optum does this upcoding sh-t in their Br---t Care Center to justify performing multiple unnecessary diagnostic procedures. It's disgusting...

@ka I saw it done. Saw them tack on a ckd stage 3 based on a gfr below 60 and up code from stage 2 to stage 3 without referring patient to renal. Next test showed CKD stage 2 , bought into that NP attention. Told her she better fix her little upcoding error. The system adds the codes and you all sign off on them. Of course the non health care oriented patients don’t realize that your making their care more expensive not less and your fishing for diagnosis’s so they can be billed to Medicare costing the taxpayors billions and yet the patient gets cr-ppy care .

There is a doctor on instagram who is exposing the Optum Housecall NP’s. Showing how they fishing for diagnosis’s by ordering medically unnecessary tests. He even gives examples of how it is done. He states for each diagnosis they report they make thousands of dollars. What he said is they confuse the patient. He has had patients billed for those medically unnecessary tests and he has to explain to them it was not needed or he would have done it.

@wr There are 2 billion dollar lawsuits going thru the courts and they are on the very subject of NP administering tests - first one the vascular studies - medically unnecessary. If the primary did not order the test why would a NP administer the test. I tell you why to beef up the risk adjustment score. Hence a whistleblower - who saw the patterns and reported the company. Why does a patient need a nurse practitioner to go out to the house if they have a primary doctor. Like does he not do an exam.

@dh You do not even have a clue as to what you are speaking of regarding the Optum Housecalls NPs. Please stop reading into the media's lies and drama and come ride with me one day to see just what my day entails. No test are ordered to "beef up" anything. Nice try though. I love my job. I make a difference in the lives of my members everyday and have saved quite a few lives in doing so. Let's try to be less disgruntled and be glad you still have a job! Every company faces challenges and difficulties from time to time.

The only caveat I would add is DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Even if that means opening an HR ticket if management pushes back.

I don't know if you've been paying attention lately, but laws require enforcement and the U.S. justice system has been very selective on whom they enforce the laws, BTW, abuse of H1B visas isn't legal either so ....

I work at Allina (Minneapolis). Our IS used to be internal and was bought out by Optum. At first, they kept our people. I had a call with support today and it definitely was a center in India.

Incorrect. US companies legally cannot offshore all their work. They are required BY LAW TO keep a certain % in the US. Stop with the bullsh-t please.

@kk question how many of the CEO, VPs have left the gig before accomplishing their financial goals? Witty had a salary of $23.5 million a year. Hensley his contract has a clause that his bonus can't be less of $100k a year.

I read in other posts that the USA workforce spend 6 hours of their time correcting issues in the code made by offshore people. STOP doing that, do your job and that's it. Let them fix their own cr-p. They have supervisors offshore that owns the quality of their code. While somebody fixes them in America, you are not getting recognized, they are. And your job is always behind.

@dh

I think you don't understand how it works.
Housecalls providers are NOT in any way forced to make up diagnoses.
NO one is ever punished or incentivized to make or not make risk adjusted diagnoses.
Now...quality might want to see those diagnoses.
But NOTHING happens if you select "no change" and send it back.

@je currently they only go into homes with states that have FPM patients, about 17 states have this Medicare/medicaid plan.

@dh interesting they do the same tests at the doctors office it's about Medicare requirements because it catches things like retinopathy before it causes blindness. Medicare made the rules now they want to change them. UHG even had them on the phone going over how things are done to BE SURE that was withing guidelines and they said yes. It costs them more money and so now they want to blame UHG.

How are they going to move RN jobs. Easy. Medicare has a new requirement that authorizations be automated completely by 2027 so hence they don’t need but a handful of RN’s and they already have shifted most of the plans to the Philippines where they have US based RN’s doing the reviews . That’s right people - they ship them in and take the NCLEX and ship them home. As for the Nurse Practitioners they will slowly close that Housecalls program down. Why : because when you send in a NP and tell her to administer tests so you can beef up your risk adjustment that’s a no no. Hence you are just trying to get more money. That’s what got them in trouble in the first place. They are also quietly closing clinics right and left as to not attract a lot of attention. Soon all you all will be fine except
Maybe a handful.

Many jobs will move, but they will keep the seasoned folks with the 20% onshore. I don't think even Optum would be d-mb enough to have 100% offshore.

Yeah, I’ll laugh my a-s off if that happens. Onshore employees already know the offshores ones only work when the US-based customers are awake. So they’re getting paid for FT work but only doing 20 hours. Good luck with that!

Innovation? India will not innovate.

They will maintain. And entire products will fall apart as they remove and break functionality to appease customers who don't know what they're talking about, because they too don't understand the purpose of the product, if this comes to pass.

Such a shame, spending so much in resources to build up our tech, training people, and to repeatedly sabotage it in the same breath by chasing moonshot projects and putting the cart before the horse on when products can be sunsetted. So, so much waste.
