Relative performance + fatalities = CIP below 1.0. Brace yourselves for a 0.6. Legacy Hess employees are loving it until the end of 2026 - their compensation is guaranteed intact until Dec 31, and their CIP for 2025 was approved by their board - 1.64. Any Hess folks worth their salt will jump ship Jan 1, 2027.

@bp I recall that the sales pitch from recruiters was that CVX base pay was lower, but the work culture and WFH made up for it. And that when we factored in CIP, the gap closed even more.

Now MW is cutting the things that made up for joining CVX vs XOM. That's fine, but then you gotta pay like XOM

Mainly as a “reward” for surviving such an awful year. Plus the LTIP payout for 26+ is terrible this year so they need to balance that out with a better CIP.

2% salary structure. We always seem to come in at 1% less than inflation.

If you think CIP is tied to our performance as employees, you are kidding yourselves. They’ve looked at the books and carefully calculated how much to give out to keep you just happy enough not to quit (or less, if the attrition target has not been reached). Metrics like financial performance, number of fatalities, OE, etc will be cherry picked to justify that calculation in either direction.

Recall the CIP is not a guaranteed part of our compensation. When 1st introduced it was made clear the CIP could be withdrawn at company discretion.
With the appalling OE performance this year and MW's fixation with cutting costs....this could well be the year that CIP is withheld or withdrawn.
Check with ENGIN friends if CIP is even mentioned in thier employment contracts, might give a clue about CIP's future for US staff.
Just says.....as HR!!

This has to be one of the worst years of OE performance in recent history right? Or ever? How many people have to die, or schools do you have to evacuate, to get below a 1? Guess we’ll find out!
