Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Coming layoffs

Is this likely how the layoffs will go down?

Store level employees should be mostly fine. Most likely cut is BWC. High paid SMs might be a target down the line, but I think the focus will be DM and above in January.

@sx My guess is to get rid of employees, they'll go with the evaluation/performance metric to fire people. They can always adjust it up and down depending how many employees they wish to terminate. No doubt they are hoping to avoid severance as well.

It's a travesty to lose good people in this manner, because everyone I met at Walgreens is genuinely committed to its long-term success. All this fear will cause the company's backbone to leave, weakening its recovery plan.

Here's my prediction:
Sh-t will hit the fan come Feb 1. The OPO closure on Feb 1 will trigger some departures. There may be a pause in layoffs if the headcount reduction from this attrition is enough. And there are enough chairs at Deerfield to accommodate the influx. I doubt that this will be the case.

If the OPO exodus is not enough, then contractors may be next. Some teams are increasing headcount through contractors, possibly to protect regular staff if a decree to cut headcount by X% is issued. Then the contractors will be the sacrificial lamb.

Next on the list are regular employees who fall below a specific evaluation score, with the excuse that their performance was subpar. But what they refuse to tell you is that a decree was issued to score most employees low so they can employ this tactic to eliminate regular employees, including high-performing employees.

There was a discussion about issuing offer letters to some employees, but I don't think they'll need to use that as leverage. In other words, there will be NO offer letters.

Anything you see on here is pure speculation.

One fact is there is a hiring freeze on field leadership. So everyone is expecting a big shakeup there in the coming weeks. But what does that look like? It’s all speculation…
