This is not the way to deal with that, though. This will ensure that the majority of the best people who have plenty of options walk away. Where and with who will that leave the company? Did anybody stop to think about that? This is another Stankey signature move where he does things because he thinks he's a genius just to have it come back to bite all of us in the a-s.

@vqi+1niT8KO6 Indeed, AT&T has multiple lines of business. Something around of 2/3 of the revenue for the corporation comes from Mobility though. By the way, Verizon also has wireline and enterprise business units and still manages to run their corporation with tens of thousands of fewer people. Same Bell System legacy; a whole lot less bloat. No matter how you slice it, AT&T appears to have too many people.
Lol…. Even our wireline employees don’t have landline service, but they all have cellphones.

We could drop any other portion of the company and survive, but AT&T can’t drop wireless. Every other org is a break even or loss and it’s time to let that go.

Overstaffed at all levels. From Wikipedia... the big three wireless telecommunications facilities-based service providers by subscriber count in the United States are:
Verizon: 142.8 million (Q2 2022)
T-Mobile US: 110.0 million (Q2 2022)
AT&T Mobility: 101.8 million (Q2 2022)
Note that AT&T is number 3 in subscribers.
And now headcount figures from Wikipedia:
AT&T headcount = 160,700 (Jan. 2023)
Verizon headcount = 117,100 (December 2022)
T-Mobile headcount = c. 71,000 (2022)
Note that AT&T is number 1 in headcount by a huge margin.
Changing all the management at the top of the company will not grow revenue enough to sustain the headcount at its current level. Like it or not, it would seem that many more have employees have to go, unfortunately. But yes, let's start at the top.

For the actual work, maybe not over staffed. But there seem to be lots and lots of chiefs. I mean how many directors of BS are really needed? AVP, GVP, EVP...MVP?
It does help people to repeat their analysis and vent feelings about what is happening, it’s cathartic! One of the stages of grief.

Rude, but kind of funny. I think I know what he means... Yes, we all know Stankey is a terrible manager, and not a leader at all. We all know they're doing it the wrong way, and we all know AT&T is falling apart right before our eyes. So does it really help anyone to repeat the same thing over and over every day?
