Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Is COVID-19 going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back?

The quarantine and economic fallout is most likely going to be the bullet that does in Sears and Kmart. I won't be surprised if there is an announcement for the rest of the company to liquidate in the coming weeks.

If I'm not mistakened, it's basically the few Kmart stores remaining (which are open as they are considered "essential" as they carry grocery items) that are funnelling any money into the company. Most, if not all of the Sears stores are closed due to being deemed "non-essential". Online sales must be in the single digits as the stores fulfill the orders, and a handful of Kmarts and a smattering of Sears stores not in areas with mandatory closures will not be able to fulfill the orders. If giants like Walmart and Target are running threadbare on things like paper towels, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, etc. what makes you think that Kmart would have these items (which struggled to keep their shelves stocked way before COVID-19 because they didn't pay their suppliers)?

While this COVID-19 fiasco is just merely a momentary inconvenience to companies like Walmart and Target, it is going to prove fatal to Transformco.

Politics baby he's gonna get paid.
He knows how to play the game.
You think one day Sears is an essential store and the next they're not?
This guy has it figured out like Marty from Ozark.
Don't care for the guys business practices but he knows how to play the game, he's no dummy.
I'm sure Ann H is sitting back right now with one of her little latino pawns counting her millions.

@swc+14m4OKPl You couldn’t be more wrong. Mnuchin has to give what little money there will be to help viable businesses with thousands more employees so they can survive. He will not throw money at a retailer that already filed bankruptcy, has no business plan or worth and was on their way out when the pandemic hit. It would be insane to think Mnuchin would waste one dime on transform co in the current situation. The pandemic has made transform co a much smaller, irrelevant fish in a much bigger ocean. Friend or not, Eddie won’t (and shouldn’t) get a dime.

The camel was laid off with severance years ago. Billions, hilarious. Saying Millions might be slightly believable with this small store base.

You couldn’t be more wrong. Eddie’s college room mate Mnuchin is going to give Sears Billions thru the stimulus act. It’s insane the amount of money he’s going to get. Probably good for at least 5-10 more years now.
