I agree with the learning disabilities. Common sense is not common at all and it is difficult to teach. Some jobs require critical thinking skills (as they should). It is difficult to know that some people really have a difficult time comprehending and leading a team. Leaders already know who these people. They either do not care or may not comprehend that some things just can not be learned no matter how much you train or explain. You also can not teach people to un-learn cultural norms or biases. Keep your head up one day common sense will be the new normal.
I had a Director that could not read, spell or comprehend. She still there. Not sure if it falls under DEI for disability but it was a difficult time reading her emails. She had never done the job or learned it so the DEI policy has hurt some teams. Doesn’t feel right having to tell someone to use correct grammar or spelling so you can understand what they’re saying. In that situation what is the point of job descriptions if you do not need the experience or skills.
“No one cares. Work harder. This board is about layoffs.”
We can talk about whatever we want to here.
My PL will not promote someone other than the same minority status and its completely acceptable. It it better to be at peace with situations we can not change. It is never about the work you do but rather who you know. I never seen a person promote a different “checked box” and no one complains, it’s normalized.
I hope it’s over as well. Same people promoted year after year is that what DEI was meant for? You get a promotion, you get a promotion and you get a promotion (same people). Served no purpose.
Hopefully DEI is gone. It encourages diversity but then quickly breeds mediocrity. Sorry, not sorry.
What is this nonsense, People are stressed and lashing out at whoever is in their face. Laying off minorities is just another example of how this company operates. I laugh when I think how they promoted the term “Transparency” back in 2018, it’s never been transparent.
I don't know, last 3 top performers at our team that got laid off were females or minorities. I'd think if there was a true performance issue there it would have been addressed before the layoffs, either in the form of a PIP or a "Below Expectations" review. Or even a discussion about work performance. I'm sure it's nothing.
No one cares. Work harder. This board is about layoffs.
Champions? A leader without a degree will most likely not hire or promote someone with a degree (vice versa). A leader with insecurities about their skills will most likely not hire or promote someone with skills or experience. Does any of this have anything to do with DEI? Some instances not, others yes. Basic psychology here and training or policy can change it. Blame it on human behavior if you do not have numbers to prove your DEI theory. Debate it with facts.
No one can eliminate biases at any level in a company. To think it doesn’t exist is naive. People are constantly judging people and a leader will not change their beliefs based on a policy. The OP is making it about DEI when someone can dislike you for the brand of coffee you prefer.
I am a differently abled person. I self identified with Centene that I had a condition covered under ADA. Top performer on my team, and a pinch hitter when others couldn't finish their work by e.o.b.d. After the VIRUS, I had to take a brief leave on FMLA. When I came back, I was on an accommodation. Suddenly I was on a PIP for not meeting goals from months prior which was hog wash, a retroactive PIP??? I appealed, sent proof it was false, and was told basically none of it mattered it was up to my PL. Got laid off.
I can honestly say, Centene is an equal opportunity layer offer.

@kp+1jseq6aqp my boss, my bosses boss, my bosses bosses boss and my bosses bosses bosses boss are not white males.
What the HE-L are you talking about!??!!!!!!
I came in here ready to clown OP but looks like @sk+1jseq6aqp hit the nail on the head. So now we sit and wait for what OP has to say.
Hey OP! You really thought you had something there, didn’t ya?
😂🤡
OP I know who you are.
Their “minority” status should not now, nor should have it ever been praised. What should be praised is work ethic, a willingness to learn and grow and be grateful for being given an opportunity.
OP, I know some “DEI” hires who are ki-ling it in the roles and excelling and promoting… ( DEI is in quotes because I see them as someone who got hired who wants to work and help the company grow…) and some who think everyone else should do the job for them because their “minority status” made them the shining light because they were a minority. They saw the praise and did nothing to improve and acted like we owed them something. And now it’s coming to light who wants to work, learn and grow vs who just took advantage of an easy in.
Im not white and I’m not female. OP maybe we are rolling back to appreciating who WORKS and appreciates their job instead of handing out medals to being a certain gender or race.
And the fact you post something like this???? Like youre too stupid to comprehend it should be based on more than just being a minority? I truly sincerely hope you get canned.
What you got to say now, OP?
the mission is still there, whether or not anyone wants to hear the acronym.
If you look at most leadership its white males.
Yes they are rebranding DEI and the inclusion groups
Being female does not get you ahead - being a minority does not get you ahead - to suggest this is laughable. DEI is a PR front. Centene DEI s all talk to keep up appearances - they terminate employees & hold back employee growth indiscriminately. Make no mistake many, many, many females & minorities alike have been let go/fired/terminated whatever label you choose to attach over the last 3 years in particular (plenty of men too).
Are you kidding? Being female gets you ahead at Centene. Being a female minority gets you celebrated.
They still have a DEI officer so you tell me. Sarah London promotes the 77% female workforce and "diversity" focus. Nothing to see here!
maybe you should look into what DEI really means. hint: it is not a synonym for “minority status”
