Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

EH needs to go

EH has been at the helm of Nike for over a year now, and it's been nothing but a dumpster fire. Sales are tanking in China down a whopping 17% last quarter while the stock's bled out like another 15% in just the last three months. This guy's supposed to be the savior, the insider who knows the brand inside out, but all we've seen is more of the same: sluggish innovation, over-reliance on old cr-p like Air Force 1s, and a "turnaround" plan that's moving slower than a snail on molasses. North America's up a bit, sure, but that's not enough to hide the fact that the company's still reeling from layoffs, scandals, and a culture that's gone from toxic to freaking toxic under his watch.

It's time for EH to pack his bags and GTFO before he drags Nike into the ground for good. We've got competitors like Hoka and On eating our lunch, and this dude's response? Raise prices and shuffle leadership like deck chairs on the Titanic. Enough with the excuses about "middle innings" of a comeback, investors are losing faith, employees are miserable, and the brand's losing its edge.

Nike needs a real leader, not this recycled exec who's just prolonging the pain.

Maybe put VA in charge.

I had no hope that EH was able to turn the ship around in a year. JD tanked it so bad that it will take much longer.

In addition, one of the core issues with Nike, is the culture. Honestly, a good portion of people that work here are corporate welfare recipients that add very little to no value to the organization.

If you hear anyone talking about the degree they have or where they went to school, or their “passion for sport” know that they are collecting a paycheck and nothing more.

It has gotten so bad that other companies are starting to comment about the level of ineptitude Nike alumni have and the swoosh is no longer a resume builder but in some circles a disqualifier.

Corporate culture, over the past decade plus, seemed to be focused on hype over substance, self gratification over team work, short term “milestones” over realistic long term strategy. Folks with deep knowledge of products, supply chain/manufacturing, materials, etcetera, were let go or left on their own, Now folks want immediate change. Hard to rebuild a castle on an accelerated timeline without solid foundations. Humble opinion.

Why are you blaming the CEO? If Trump creates more white-collar jobs, then more people will be able to buy luxury products such as expensive shoes. I'd say blame Trump for not creating jobs, and Powell for not cutting the rates so we can all get better jobs and have money to splurge on expensive shoes and clothes. Blame the investors, too, who put all the money into AI to cut our jobs. These id--ts don't know Economy 101; you need to create jobs so people have money to buy things. I wonder what will happen to all these AI companies when investors' money runs out? Everyone keeps cutting jobs; no one will have money to spend. Everyone will go bankrupt.

Such a d-mb take. And when did half of the comments on this board start to be generated by AI? Get a life.

@OP I have previously brought same idea earlier in this platform regarding EH not being right CEO for Nike at this time and received overwhelmingly negative feedbacks.
Seems like sentiment has changed since then.

Yes, I agree that CEO needs minimum 3 years to show results. But when nothing has been shown that seems positive in more than a year, we know what will happen in three years.
Move EH and look for someone innovative and brilliant.

JD was d-mb sh-t since Ebay days.
EH is hard working and nice person but definitely not a general material.

Completely agree. He must go and he must go NOW. He is way too late for any decisions and I completely reject the fact that he "needs more time". F that and get him the he-- out! He's useless rot.

This is the CEO of a billion dollar company. Not the head coach of a team. Manage your expectations and relax

EH just gave VA more responsibilities by taking over Tech so the two of them should be aligned on what they want to accomplish. If there really are people rooting for VA to replace EH, then I think VA is a terrible leader to allow such thinking. EH picked his SLT. If he goes, his entire SLT should go too. If any SLT member think they have better ideas than the CEO and the ideas are not being implemented, they should move to a smaller competitor and prove they're right. There's no place for the game of thrones within the SLT.

Whether you like EH or not, the idea that putting in place yet another CEO in just a short year after the current one is going to make things suddenly better is very short sighted. Nike is a large company, nothing can move fast. It takes years to undo years of bad management. Plus, if you're actually tired of reorgs and layoffs why would a new CEO not just invite yet another round of layoffs and reorgs? Any new leader coming in will 100% trigger more upheaval and messy changes with highly questionable benefit. I say all that as a person who is not sold on EH. At a certain point chaos through churn and change is more toxic to the company than a lackluster strategy.

Hahah expecting someone to fix product, distribution and culture in one year is wild. You don’t turn a sinking ship into gold overnight. Give it 3 years, then feel free to light the torches and march with pitchforks.

Don't agree. EH inherited a big mess. It's going to take time to turn out around. But it's moving in the right direction. Plus do not compare stock price to COVID highs. There's a new normal. Market is overhyped by AI. There are negative macroeconomic forces at play as well like tariffs. Yes marketing in China can be improved. And yes VA probably has his eyes on the big prize but I think EH is making the right moves.

Ha ha hilarious look at a photo of Venky

The heart of Nike isn’t some wokester talking about running shoes

It is someone living in a crime infested inner city

Find someone your core market would like

Not someone who looks like their landlord or shopkeeper
