@sh Good point. If you return to Optum all of your years count for PTO, but only the last hire date counts for severance.

@OP The same company that cut everyone's total compensation by 1% on 1/1/2026 through a reduction in their 401K match has also gotten cheaper in their severance offerings. Big surprise.

@OP if you have received severance before for another lay off and then came back your severance years start over. I found this out the hard way when I was laid off a 2nd time in Sept 2025.

Typically is 1 week for every complete year of service.
