How would you rate how successfully Allstate evaluate competitive and market trends?
I think Allstate is lost and doesn’t even recognize where the company has opportunities.

People are not going to put up being serviced by people in India for as much $ as they are paying and no other insurers are doing it.
I have a friend who works in a business are for SF. They are ki----g it. Just passed 1.65 million auto growth so far in 2021. 600k fire and 200k life. They are legacy like us but have much lower rates. I just saw US news and world report did a ranking of the top 10 insurers with individual comparisons based on price and service. USAA was 1, SF was 2. All State was 9 out of 10. The comparison against State Farm was brutal. Their rates were 40% less and their customer service was off the charts as compared to ours. And they are actively trying to grow agents where we don’t want them. That are they doing different than us?
I check every year for better rates, it is easy for me as I have a friend that owns a State Farm agency, one that works at AMFAM, and another that is independent.
The answer has been the same for several years, we can't get you a better price and it isn't by a small amount it is by hundreds of dollars, they both say they are getting beat up by Allstate, I have multiple cars and decent home, no claims at all. I feel bad because my friend at SF is a good friend and would like to give her my business but can't justify throwing money away like that.
@allstate legal…I knew the answer to the question of “do you have your insurance with Allstate?” was going to be a big fat no. This is America, get your insurance where ever you think you can get the best value. Moreover, pick a company that will do a good job of protecting you and your family. Please don’t hide the fact that Allstate is not the best value and they can’t do the best job under the guise I don’t want an internal claims rep conflicting with my potential claim and me professionally.
The fact that less than 10% of the employees have Allstate as their P&C carrier speaks volumes. Most employees are offered the “Good Hands” discount and they still don’t want our products. The reality is Allstate is not a good company from top to bottom.
It would not surprise me that many of our senior level executives do not carry Allstate. Glenn Shapiro is probably still with LM!
As a claims rep there is absolutely no way I would have Allstate. We literally pay the minimum and force our customers to prove actual costs. Oh, and drag them through the mud to do it. We are now so desperate we hire anyone experienced or not, then we give horrible training. I see things happen here on a daily basis that are illegal/bad faith.
That said I do shop around and have been wowed/pleased at the level of service from our competitors.
@rql+1cozcBC5- I do not have my insurance with Allstate, never have. Most of us in legal do not as to avoid the conflict of having a Claim Rep that we work with handling our own claim.
I have my insurance through another major company/competitor, but like another poster stated, I shop around and switch every few years. I'm looking for a good product, at a good price, from a reputable company.
I'm not sure what you're getting at, but hope this answers your questions.
@rql+1cozcBC5 where do you have your insurance? Why do you have it there? And where do your Coworkers have their insurance?
Hey we were overpriced by $300 and now it’s only $250!
I hope the stock buybacks in a pandemic were worth it
I’m my view, insurance is now like cable. You have to move every 2 years to get the lowest rate. Anyone with Allstate for years is a su---r.
I'm in Legal, not in sales, not an agent, etc. but from my perspective, Allstate's only pitch to new customers seems to be that we're now less expensive than we were before. Which is fine, but our competitors also have low rates and have had lower rates than Allstate for many years. And everyone is online, and they all offer discounts for bundled services, and there's an app for that, and so on. How does any insurance company stand out in these times when they're all basically offering the same product at roughly the same price? My answer would be customer service, but we're not doing so hot in that department since slashing the US workforce and sending work to people on the other side of the world that have absolutely no connection or anything in common with the customers they're servicing or their communities.
