@OP I hear that Plano is the odds-on fave. Tarrant County folk got some drivin’ to do if it’s mandatory back to the office or out.

@c2 it's a downgrade much like people have to do when they go in debt and have to downsize their home. In Sabre's cases they should be section 8 but borrow from loan sharks to get by.

@pm Right. Also, JdF and SN from labs are the best of friends :D

@jy we also need to find someone else to take over the current lease before we can move to a new building. I doubt that will happen.

@rn here's an idea for a new office that ticks the private cubicle wish while costing almost nothing, and I am only half joking.....

Everyone works from their cars in a free parking lot somewhere in the metroplex.

Sabre would provide a wifi hotspot. Teams would cluster in specific parking lots. If you want more privacy then use window shades. Sabre provides a per diem for lunch so teams can meet in person in a restaurant.

A lot of people would prefer that to the current office.

@p5 if the new office has private cubicles I wouldn't mind if it was a tent. I am so sick of the open plan "collaboration" that makes it nearly impossible to get any work done.

The new office will probably have pillows on the floor tassel curtains and a hookah

If the new office goes back to private cubicles with 6 foot walls then that would be amazing! That would help so much with productivity. The open plan desks are terrible.

@jx Agree with you on the current layout it is awful for getting anything done. I'm afraid they are already looking through the TEMU catalogs for bargain basement / close out deals except for the E Suites...

If I am not laid off, and move to the new office, I hope we go back to 8'x8' cubicles with 6' tall walls. The previous open plan beehive half-hexagon cubicles with banana shaped desks were terrible and the current typing pool rows of open desks are much worse. If we also went back to where directors and above got offices and where managers got bigger cubicles facing the windows that would be amazing.

I have a terrible feeling that whoever is making the furniture decision will triple down on the open plan disaster though.

If you are that person and you read this, please, please, please, please, to increase productivity and comfort, please go back to private assigned cubicles with lots of desk space, tall sound absorbing walls, desk lamps, shelving, drawers, and a guest chair.

I am so sick of overhearing conversations about inane garbage from the opposite end of the building. It is impossible to concentrate with the open plan layout. The change from private cubicles to the open plan office destroyed productivity without promoting any collaboration. In order to get any work done you have to wear headphones and crank music up really loud to drown out all the noise. Collaboration can happen in meeting rooms, keep the noise there where it doesn't disturb people trying to get work done at their desks.

@c2 If they did that they wouldn't be able to sell absolute cr-p about “collaboration” and “networking”.

Can't the leaders be honest just once about the reason for moving to a new building. It's not that we need a new building to allow a tech company to collaborate more. It's because the building is barely at 20% capacity so we can save money by going to a smaller cheaper .Tell the truth. Stop spinning it. It just looks dishonest.

About time. All the people who come into the office in DFW would fit on just one floor of building A.
