Is WFS even taking the time to read people's requests for accommodations? They are denying people with no explanation. How many cases are being sent straight to the trash can?

@rn managers DO have some discretion like if an employee needs to work at home for a short time as in no more than two weeks. But employees do have to get their manager to approve first. For most things tho it is better to get your physician to sign off on your need to work remotely for a time period.

@pd Actually, managers have little to no authority over ADA accommodations to work from home. The only input they have is to answer a yes/no question: can all of the required job duties be performed remotely?

It’s up to the employee and their medical provider to prove a disability and that the only reasonable accommodation is to work from home. If the proof is not there, the request won’t be approved. The employee will need to appeal or submit another request.

@pd exactly. If you are good employee, and you have a legitimate need to work from home due to illness or injury, and you've documented it the way we're told to do, which is not that hard, by the way, it will be approved.

I know several that had minor and major sugery that had wfh fo a long time. I think if you ask for wfh because you ar stressed out or something you will be denied. I think a lot of it is also you mgr. If they know your not a slacker they will give their blessing for wfh.

@bj Yes. 5 pages of paperwork signed by my surgeon were submitted. Still denied.

I’ve never experienced a more unethical company.

Sorry to read that accommodations have been denied. When I needed a temporary accommodation I followed the instructions. Submitted the forms HR required. My health care provider provided his completed form. My accommodation was approved in a timely and supportive manner.

They do approve accommodations. I know of two that were approved this year.

I submitted doctor's notes and mine got denied as well. They are full of cr-p! It's not a fair or empathetic process at all.

They pick and choose on what the approve or deny for wfh accommodations. Complete trash and they should be ashamed!

My WFH accomodation got denied twice. It's about as--s in the seats . Not health.

@OP What kinds of accommodations are we talking about?
A few years back, I asked for a telephone headset that can be mega amplified since my hearing is very poor, and the request was quickly approved.
