We will have to sell our house. Find an apartment and decide what to do from there. I half hope I am let go, this has given me an ulcer. It will probably worse for those staying, twice the work load for some.

I would first breathe a BIG sigh of relief.. spend the next 60 days dwindling down my pending. I am then going to move to a new state for a new start and NEVER! work in insurance again... I love helping people! Even if I don't get laid off I am outta here soon! Too much stress and negative effects on my mental health. I honestly can't take anymore! I have lost 10lbs in a week because of stress and not being able to eat! This was the last straw for me.. I am taking the control of my future back because Allstate could give two sh–s about their employees... We can't even get small necessities reimbursed to work from home.. guess what? other carriers gave their employees an allowance to get the items they needed to be able to work from home and NOT be out of pocket. They drain you dry and expect more and more out of you! Don't let them fool you with the we care BS!! The only thing they care about is a big fat bank account.

Take some time to breathe and live off my severance and pension. Then collect unemployment for a little bit and figure out what I want to do.

Do a happy dance. I ain't gonna lie, this job has stressed me out so bad, I have been in the insurance industry for 30 yrs and never have I had a job that was so stressful. I will pick up my toys and move on.. I will NEVER take a job in claims again esp if Salary. Allstate takes full advantage of salaried employees.
If I am laid off I will look at it as a blessing.
Mental and physical health ae more important than money.

Probably throw up the peace sign and continue investing in my business. Being here for years makes me sick to my stomach anyways, all people ever did in my office is gossip about each other, brown nose their managers to get promotions, and feed off each other’s pettiness. If you have a good heart and just want to do your job right, there was always someone trying to tear you down. My manager loved to create tension, like it was their livelihood. Take severance and follow your passion.

I’m going to find an encore career as well.. I’m lucky with the severance and I can get my pension and find something that uses the skills I like, but not the ones I don’t..I actually took one of those job seeking courses they had and it was pretty good..

I’m fortunate that I don’t have to replace my entire salary.. I’m looking to find something that uses my skills of empathy and communication and find something that really does help people

It’s boomeranging back to my parents if I’m laid off—all my savings were eaten by health issues. I’ll gather myself up and start looking again; at least my resume isn’t out of date.

Apply for unemployment, sell my house, move to a Southern state with a lower cost of living, rent an apartment for a while, find a new job and if it all works out buy another house. I am currently living way beyond my means (new car, credit card debt from house renovations, high property tax area, etc) and I am never doing it again. My goal is to get rid of all consumer debt so I only have a mortgage.

I started over in 2007 and 2015. Divorced lost house and health . Healthy now, do not know if i have it in me to start over again I love what I do and I am good at it . I foolishly thought if you work hard you are awarded. I hope I am not proven wrong.

That's the part that really gets me. We just hired all these people telling them we needed them. And now at the worst time possible poof...

I am looking too. They hired me 9 months ago and I quit from a very stable job to join the Allstate team - Now I am unemployed. What can I tell you?

Bad timing? Poor judgement on my part? Probably both.

Keep looking, keep looking...

Do what I've been doing; looking for employment elsewhere. Not much else I can do.

I've only been with Allstate a year (really regretting that decision now, but hindsight is 20/20) so I'd only get 2 weeks of pay. I don't have the luxury of sitting around being angry/moping (not saying others do).

I have savings, thankfully, but I'm not trying to use it all.

I love what @rhs put together below. I've organized his/her post and added #s.

What # is your avorite one? I love #8 the best...

  1. Collect unemployment.
  1. Relax for the first time in 3 decades.
  1. Move onto my encore career.
  1. Get up early because I can without thinking my life depended on it.
  1. Walk more because I’m not in a hurry.
  1. Share the learnings instead of putting competition ahead of everything.
  1. Having enough is good.
  1. Be happy with what you have so no need to get more, more, more.

Same here, I am not paid that well so collecting unemployment will be OK for a while.

I think I should be able to find another job realtively quickly.
