Oracle's abrupt layoffs have us wondering if Cisco will follow suit. 🤔

@ta Gotcha! So it sounds like most of sales is being cut for this. Not bad!

@ta curious what data you’re seeing that makes you say “m—on sales people” are responsible for low margins. Where’s that coming from?

Funny, the negative folks on this post are going to be pretty close to right. No one wants it, but it's what usually comes after the red badge cuts. The RB cuts were massive. The margins are down because of mo--n sales people and personnel costs that were blindly raised so now existing closed deal p&ls break. Want more? Memory costs that are causing contracts to get pulled when the costs change. Everyone - customers and cscso expecting this massive efficiency gain from AI that isn't always there. So now it's AI hangover time. Some places and tasks see a gain but maybe not what was planned. For those cases I present to you the almighty LR. The fixer of very little until the ELT get one.

@ea I gotta say, I agree with you your comment! Cisco has some heart on them left. I don’t anticipate they will fire a bunch of people after just winning the top place to work a week ago and Fran was posting it everywhere! It would be quit odd they turn around and fire the sh-t out of people next month! I just don’t see it happening nor have I heard about it either other than a few spotty orgs having hair trims to them. But let’s wait and see!

Say what you will about Cisco's ongoing layoffs, the dreaded call with your manager who reads from an HR-prepared script to let you know your job has been eliminated, and how it continually erodes the morale of the employees left behind (and I've been on both sides of it.) But Cisco's approach is WAY better than Oracle's surprise email with an opening sentence of "This is your last workday..." while tone deaf Larry Ellison basks in the status of being the 5th wealthiest man in the world with a net worth of $195B.

As bad as Cisco is, it don't have a mistake like Oracle's disastrous AI misadventures to contend with.

Could Cisco too resort to cold 6 am email LR blast? That would be a time time.

Of course they will, layoffs to cover up poor strategy are a bi-annual or quarterly tradition at Cisco
