Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

RTO will probably force me to quit

Even setting aside all the other issues, the commute alone would be nearly impossible.
Oh well, it's not like I ever loved this job anyway.

To piggyback of the preceding post. Does anyone know if there is a time requirement for being in the office. I’m not required to be in 3 days a week. The day I go in I usually only stay in the office for 2-3 hours. It’s a ghost town with no one to collaborate with so I’d rather just be at home where I don’t have to worry about how loud I’m talking when I need to chat with someone. I’m a loud talker. Always have been. Haven’t been great at “fixing” that problem yet.

Folks who have returned already are they keeping you to a schedule? I would have a 2 hr commute and have heard folks just come in for a few hours, arrive ate or leave early to avoid peak traffic hours. But they still satisfy the requirement to be in office.

OMG! With all the employees have been put through the past several years, who wouldn't have qualifying mental health problems at this point????

Medical exceptions may be related to a variety of issues - Mental Health issues, vision, need for dedicated specialized equipment. Inability to get to an office secondary to multiple things. Chronic pain that may require you to lay down for 5-10 min throughout the day, GI concerns, suppressed immunity,

@yt So they expect medical miracles that cure chronic conditions in the next 12 months, or just adding one more hurdle to make us miserable so we quit?

@yt I am curious, what type of medical exception might apply? I am not trying to get one, just more curious about what would prevent someone from working in an office instead of home?

RTO is meant to force you to quit...

HR accepts medical exemptions that "qualify" for one year only.

@rp what about for medical reasons? You may be able to get an exemption for medical reasons if you have any issues. I have them if needed.

Quit H_ll... They are going to have to fire me. I have over an hour commute and am being told I still have to drive an hour and twenty minutes to an office where I don't work with anyone and have none of my own management at that location. Why am I not exempt when others with a 1 hour and 5-minute commute exempt??? Somebody please explain this to me....!!! I am being told there are no more exceptions. That if you don't already have an exemption, HR isn't allowing exemptions anymore regardless....

@qw if your commute is 3 hrs, let your manager know. You may be able to get an exemption from the SLT if over 1 hr. You jut need to provide them proof from google maps. Give it a shot!

@cc quit saying "back to the office". Some of us never worked there to begin with. SMH

@cc Sit in traffic every day to work on a computer in an office. These old basta-rds running this company and country need to die off already

@cc I’m sure you’re a troll, but no one is having “fun” working from home. I’m actually more productive than when I’m in the office.

Back to the office everyone fun time is over. Our local economy needs you! Gas, food, etc…

We need to see our amazing associates in seats around the country to ensure you are working as productive as possible.

I’m already looking around for remote only jobs so I’m somewhat prepared when/if they start making more people RTO 3x per week. It makes no sense for me to go in when I’m just on Teams calls all day anyway. I’m okay going once per week, but 3x per week is ridiculous. I’m not going to “collaborate” with people from other teams. That would be pointless and we’re all too busy for that.
