Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

FYI - Last week's G19/18 exits completed

Feb brings G18/17 exits (announced). Watch G16/15 space - patterns suggest possible next wave.

Stay focused, stay sharp.

The board needs to take a serious look at Dilip, not his directs. Talk to anyone he has worked with at previous companies and you’ll learn why he is basically hiding out here until retirement.

RTO, Cloud, evading WARN act with low numbers and such have been going on since early 2024.

Layoffs will be every month with the number low enough so they don’t have to report it. With the original comment or might’ve suggested. Is that there’s a pattern, of who gets laid off… and it has been those that were highest paid. Nothing to do with performance. Can we get rid of them and higher cheaper. Not a good decision. Rolling out to the cloud And return to office Neither one had any serious planning. These layoffs don’t either.

Seems like the issue is Dilip and not his direct reports. Direction and attitude come top down, not bottom up. The man is an unorganized disaster. He has turned over 60% of his original team and still no results. It's laughable at this point.

Zeph's org is as much engineering as any other under Dilip so not sure what you mean by non-technical. Teams in her org enable employees with technology to get their work done.

Zeph's organization is non-technical (non-engineering), and I'm uncertain how Enterprise Architecture and Generative AI fit there. Something seems seriously wrong. I think it might make sense for them to be under Peter's leadership!?

Any comments?

Dilip, really needs to take a hard look at his immediate reports. It’s clear some of them are leading him down the wrong path, offering more excuses than solutions. When leadership is misled by those at the top, it’s no surprise that the entire direction feels like it’s going in circles. It’s time for a reality check, or else the ship’s going to keep sailing straight into the iceberg.

The SVP title has become the corporate equivalent of a participation trophy, a shiny label with little substance behind it. It used to command respect, but now it’s just handed out to anyone who can survive enough meetings, lies and jargon bingo. When an SVP’s biggest deliverable is a deck about ‘synergy’ while the teams are drowning in chaos, it’s no wonder the title’s a laughing stock.

Four years of ‘platform engineering’ with no actual engineering involved.

Ah, yes, the AI era, where Senior Principal Engineers play HR, Principal Engineers are interns, and Directors moonlight as Enterprise Architects. Meanwhile, AI is probably sitting there wondering why it was built to optimize workflows for a team that’s clearly decided to speed-run organizational confusion instead!

Many Grade 18 and Grade 19 employees within Pete and Zeph’s organizations, hired by Ian Eslick, Ajit, and Madhu, contribute little to the overall organization. Despite holding senior titles like Senior Principal or Senior Director, they receive lucrative wages, competing with top-tier technology corporations, while primarily working as remote employees.

There are Plenty of Grade 15 & 16 that the bank needs to get rid of they are an unnecessary layer in the way too long chain of command levels.

WTF, "stay focused, stay sharp"? The op has clearly watched too many Tom Clancy movies. Like it really makes a difference how sharp you are when the hammer falls. Tool.

Do you want OP to mention their name as well? Don't be a je-k. If you don't find it useful then move on ...

Do you mean G as in Grade?
And who just left and who is announced to leave? I do not see any communication about it
