Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Board Meeting

Anyone know what’s expected at the board meeting this month? I keep hearing it’s a major one, and that Maurice is out as President, and the vote is taking place this week. Also, possible approval for layoffs, or reorganization?

Many of the people involved in executing these plans think they’re a bad idea.

MB is getting OE’s job, so OE is going to be doing something else. I wonder what…?

@qy no at all. Cigna is way overstaffed, per the HCSC way of doing things. It’ll take a while to rebrand and expand. A rif will allow them to get rid of those with high pay, high PTO, that comes with tenure.

My guess is the RIF will be a mix of HCSC and Cigna talent, mostly HCSC. I think they started from the top, to show everyone will/did take a hit. Funny that the c suite changes are the only ones that’ll result in promotions, pay increases and larger bonuses while the rest will just end up with fewer people to cover the load.

They’ll rehire once they rebrand the other states and build it out.

Seems weird that there’s a RIF and market expansion, right?

@qk Same. Then I consider several people lost their jobs, some with possible access to this agenda.

AI can create this fairly quickly with a bit of detailed info. It’s a great job, though.

@qc Not sure how someone willing to post here would obtain this information, so suspicious that this is fake, but I do appreciate the effort and time put into it! Apologies and thanks if this is from an insider.

@ba right, the biggest problem is that Maurice is now Chairman of the board. So even when he ‘steps down’ as CEO, he’s still chairman of the board. It’s a lose-lose for everyone. And he’ll continue earning $15-20 million for the chairman role alone. Private company. Board appoints the CEO and CEO appoints the board 😆

Can confirm at least one EVP was let go today. I wasn't supposed to know but happened to be included in an unrelated call where someone dropped it and was quickly told they weren't to discuss that until an official communication went out.

Lots of VPs and EVPs just got let go today, so it’s safe to assume Maurice will be the next to go and Jill Wolowitz will likely replace him as CEO.

Maurice will likely go down as the worst HCSC CEO so far...given an incredible career and smart person, but not a seasoned CEO for the level and size of a company as HCSC. He was "guided" into this role by others to control him...remember the interim CEO out of Halliburton when they got rid of Paula because she disagreed with the board at that time, and all of sudden the next year board and CEO $ went way way up? They used Maurice as a pawn...now he can be discarded, but giving him the chairmanship of the board...sick.
