Thread regarding Hertz layoffs

keep fighting

As a current Hertz employee, I've done and will continue to do what I can to save this organization that so many have built over the years. I don't do that for the senior execs. I do that so the people I lead will remain employed and be able to feed their families. I do that so they have one less week of facing an uncertain future on enemployment! Our odds are 50/50 surviving this. But, every week I can approve my teams payroll in ADP is a win to me!

Thank goodness as a manager you and the other executives still have access to the jet for rallying the troops!

@qiv+15dL9EWL Seriously?! You lost all of that? Were you living on credit and payday loans? I was furloughed for two months and was making 2x the amount if I had stayed on. Good times.

2dmt+15dL9EWL I received no retention bonus, I received no annual increase, my 401k contributions were cut to 0. I have worked EVERYDAY at the location, even though I was given the option to stay home. I worked at the location because some of my team had to and I'd never ask them to do anything I'm not willing to do myself. ALL of you assumptions are invalid. Next.

"Keep fighting"
You are probably one of the people that just received their share of $16.2 Millions in bonuses on top of already huge compensation, and all that while are you working mostly from home.

So, you sir are full of s*it.
Regular employees lost scheduled raises, bonuses, 401k match and they if they complain they are told they are lucky to still have a job. We are risking our lives out here every day, while you guys are still making hundreds of thousands dollars (or more).

Remaining employees should just give up, show up, do nothing. Just collect paycheck and let this thing run it's course.
Let executives "save the company". After all that is why they gave themselves these humongous bonuses on top of already unbelievable compensation.
I think it was said their workload will really go up due to current situation and that is why they can't take pay cut, and they need big bonuses to keep executives around because they are essential to restructure business in bankruptcy.
I think that is hilarious because those same executives drove Hertz to bankruptcy while making millions in the process, and now we have to pay them millions in bonuses to save the company that was ruined by their bad business decisions in the first place.
What a joke this is.

I wonder how many people could have been kept on for 16.2 Million dollars. Hertz gives executives bonuses and axes the workers. I wont cry any tears for them is they disappear.

prvt+15dl9EWL I've had a job offer after I knew bankruptcy was eminent. I'm still with Hertz. If they lay me off tomorrow, I will still support my former team and co-workers. I'm not selling anyone on my team a bill of goods. I've told them if they are able to find a better job for the same or more money right now, I think they should take it. However, I'm loyal to a brand that has always recognized my value, grew me as an individual, paid me very well, and treated me with respect. I'm not naïve enough to think that happens for everyone across an organization this big. But that is my experience and one I make sure exists for my team.

Let’s see how this person feels when they are let go. Hertz will decide someone else can do their job cheaper. Will they be as supportive. I know it’s scary and you feel you have no other choice but you do. I agree do what you need to do today but you need to have a plan to get out of that toxic company. T going nowhere but down hill.

I have been with Hertz for over 34 years
I will gladly go back when called..
These are indeed tough times..
35 million of us are in the same boat.
Hertz has been around for 100 years and God willing it will be around another 100.
Our top executives did not rape the coffers and flee with the money out of the country
Have faith that things will turn around

If i keep my team employeed thats one less person utilizing the unemployment system, making it easier for you to get processed. If I keep my team employed its one less person you have to compete against for available jobs. Im not minimizing the hardships those that are laid off are facing. Im doing what I can so others aren't in your same situation. You'd prefer we all face this? Seems pretty selfish to me.
