The issue with the bands

After years of not telling people where they are in the band HR have now divided the bands up in to 4 segments, 1 at the bottom, 4 at the top, and managers know what segments their staff are in. HR still won't share the segments boundaries but everything else being equal you're more likely to get a raise if you are in segment 1 than you are in segment 4. However given how wide the bands are and how small any raises will be, you'll be in those segments forever. And yes if you're in segments 3 & definitely 4 time to check out the mythical promotion process.

Basically DXC is fu---d.
Any recent joiners are in segments 3 & 4, any long term employees 1 & 2. The very limited budgets won't fix the long term problems. The amount of negative feedback is almost at the point of open rebellion but come December and the next raft of town halls our glorious leaders will act surprised we're not all stupidly grateful.

I was thinking this looked familiar and then realised someone had just reposted my post on another thread :D

And @qcy+1vFwXbZO I sort of agree but the fact there's been so few pay raises means that it's a lot more common and the gap is wider in DXC, than in other companies I've seen.

This ones been posted before. The company has failed to play the pay rise game fairly for years. If you want competent, dedicated staff, you have to set them a task, and reward them financially for achieving it. You might not give them the full £20k difference overnight, but people would be more inclined if they could see a way to get there and it was actually paid out. Currently managers play games of the smallest of mistakes and your out. What they have totally missed is that all the people who feel they are out are just sitting on the bench mucking about, as there is no way back in the game until next review. Meanwhile they take on new staff at the top of the bands, they are supposed to be the role models for how the jobs done - I can say now - I'm not impressed, they don't deserve the money. But that's market rate. So why aren't I getting the same!? Ans: DXC doesn't do pay rises!!
