Strong Reviews, Solid Delivery… Then You’re Suddenly ‘Not a Fit'

BNY’s “transformation” machine keeps producing the same outcome: people doing real work get tossed aside, then retroactively labeled as “not a fit” to justify decisions already made in a conference room weeks earlier. The script never changes — strong reviews, solid delivery, then suddenly you’re recast or discarded as the inflexible obstacle to whatever new operating model changes leadership is worshipping this quarter.

And the part about “other opportunities”? Classic BNY fiction. They don’t offer options; they don’t offer severance… only a storyline to protect the org chart. Meanwhile, the people who kept the place running are left trying to rebuild careers while BNY congratulates itself for “modernization.”

Your experience isn’t an outlier — it’s the business model. Employees give decades; leadership gives euphemisms. And the saddest part is how many careers are derailed or forced to end earlier than planned… not with recognition, but with a carefully crafted narrative that erases the truth and replaces it with some delusion of BNY's visionary leadership and innovation.

Aaaah! You represent BNY’s best and brightest brown stains! Little wonder RV views US workers as oafish

@f7 you must be d-mb. BNY doesn’t fight or challenge legal sh-t. They pay to shut you tf up and not drag them through the mud. And yes Robin should be shaking along with their legal team because falsifying performance which costs someone their job, merit and pay is actually not legal. All you have to do is get off moms t-t and show they had no cause no to rate low or terminate and yes you can sue. Unlike you im the cu-t that has all the emails, audit trails and them openly confirming what they did and plan to do again 4th quarter. Proof is all you need pr--k so run along with your tail between your legs and let mommy know someone is being mean to you

@dx Bet on Kalshi that more kooky things will happen this quarter due to functional realignment and other P-O-M model changes. Cutting more headcount seems to be the only lever that consistently works in the company’s favor.

  • Only way its stops people is turning them in to your states EEOC, news and anywhere else. They need to be sued and big-

Oh sure. Robin, the legal division and the board are just shaking in their boots. LOL!
Get real. They are under the protection of state and the Federal reserve board government. Nothing will happen to them. As long as BNY is US clearing system go to for the Fed.

Thats because BNY gets away with ith this sh-t. Right along with falsifying ratings costing people their jobs and merit. Only way its stops people is turning them in to your states EEOC, news and anywhere else. They need to be sued and big . They already have it planned to falsifying ratings again

@a2 same happened to me. Highest performance ratings and many awards. Suddenly, shortly after I hit 60, I was no longer ‘as effective as other team members’, oddly the ones I’d also been asked to coach. 6 months unemployed but now in a role a few grades lower but still decent pay and a great company so don’t despair

There are other places that value employees, pay better wages, and help employees build solid career paths. I gave up 30+ years at BNY and don’t regret leaving for one minute:

@a1 This is the way. Most have quietly quit. Why are most projects delayed, delivered with a lot of quality issues, and built like they were high school development projects. People are doing the bare minimum. You’d be a fool to go above and beyond.

@a2
Yes. You are among the many that BNY has now been promoted to being a ‘Vice President’
Without a position and pay 😉
Early 60’s ? Your career is over. Gone. Kaput.
Doesnt make it right of course. You were still able and willing to keep giving it your all. But BNY and it’s pillars of success want to make you a VP on public unemployment and social security. Yes BNY scroowed us all but if you didnt take steps to be a Vice President of forced retirement, then it’s on you. We saw this coming when Charlie S. Got here. Now with Robin, it’s stage IV+

In 2025, I was laid off, primarily because of age and cost factors. Although I was officially labeled as a Scrum Leader, my actual role centered around client-focused service delivery. Throughout my tenure, I consistently received strong performance ratings, and there was never any question regarding the quality of my work.

After my dismissal, I learned from colleagues that management had begun circulating a narrative portraying me as inflexible and not suited for the P-O-M model changes. They also claimed I refused alternative job opportunities. In reality, no other options were presented; it was a matter of either conforming to their new direction or facing termination. Ultimately, I was given the unemployment option. I accepted a severance package, confident that my experience would help me secure another position quickly.

However, now in my early 60s, I am facing tremendous challenges in finding new employment. It’s disheartening that my career ended so abruptly and much earlier than I anticipated. Reflecting on my years in the industry, I have never encountered a workplace transformation quite like what BNY has undergone. The changes have been profound and, for many, deeply unsettling.

If someone gets burned every time they touch a hot stove, an astute person would adjust accordingly.
