Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Campus expansion in Frisco

Contacts in corporate real estate tell me that due to the cost of doing business in Bellevue the Bellevue campus will begin consolidating and moving operations to Frisco. The goal is to be significantly moved out of Bellevue by 2030. Same for Overland Park with all of the changes due to the Kansas City Royal stadium. Atlanta will be reduced significantly if not closed completely much sooner.

Sounds like Frisco is gonna grow significantly.

@38r this is nothing new for T-Mobile. Higher ups have wasted more money in failed decisions and still kept their jobs or got promoted. He-l look at Mikey’s idea to buy a cable company 10 years ago just as they all started losing subscribers left and right. They eventually made him CEO!

@38r because they don't own the HQ buildings. They are owned by Preylock holdings who bought it in 2019 for 467 million.

@38r That's considered "sunk cost" and isn't a consideration.

I'm not justifying it, it's just how companies operate.

TMO has spent almost 350 million over the last 12 years expanding and upgrading the Bellevue Labs/Switch and offices. How could they invest all that money and just walk away from Bellevue? That would be insane.

The original flags of Verizon, AT&T, Cingular, Sprint, Nextel, and T-Mobile have all flown in Texas where the headquarters were once located. Texas is where telecommunications was birthed after Alexander Graham Bell fought at the Battle of the Alamo. This is why there’s six flags under Texas.

@xz The worst thing about Texas is that it's full of Texans.

No one wants to move to Kansas, but many people would move to Texas.

@py Per a number of public sources, T-Mobile's lease at the Bellevue Campus runs thru 2030. If they want to cut costs, they'll move out of the city with a cost of living 45% above the US average to a city in Kansas that's 9.5% below or in Texas to a city that's 4% below.

I do think they are moving away from Bellevue as our team is only hiring in Frisco and Overland Park. Also heard the baseball stadium is no longer going to be located at the OP campus.

@OP think again. If DT goes ahead with the merger, HQ for the US will be East Coast and Factoria will be history as its always 3 hours behind the US

@an Yes, a move from a horrible tax environment state (WA) to a horrendous tax environment state (CA).

Stop smoking weed. 4/20 is over.

My manager told me, and told me not to say anything, but Darcey told her that we were moving HQ to either LA or SF. You heard it here first.
