Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

How many in the UK might be affected?

If it's true there will be a round next week.

@kh Oracle will keep firing until there is no one to do the actual work.
Pretty close to this now, 'volunteers' are being brought in to help close service tickets. Many of the issues the users have can be readily solved if they take the time to pose the issue or question in my.oracle.com, but that would mean they would actually have to TRY. Seems that has been the issue for far too long: expecting someone else to do things for you instead or trying.
Laziness? Ignorance? Stupidity? 'Leaders' encourage your staff to actually TRY...?

@pv Not sure how they can expect anyone under threat of redundancy to potentially find another role if they cut VPN access and Slack.

Might be a contributory factor towards constructive dismissal.

@pm all true except: communication at risk would be on 28 th , and only slack and VPN will be cut inmediatelly not email ….

I've heard from more than one internal source off-the-record that the training has been scheduled, and the actual layoffs will land on Wednesday 29th.

From what I understand VPN, Slack, and email access will be cut on the same day and then there will be your notice period on garden leave. If you do manage to find another internal job, it'll be on a four week trial period in line with ACAS rules.

Settlement amount will be in line with legal minimums, but you might get a few extra weeks if your RSUs are getting clawed back and you don't want to sign the settlement papers without negotiating first.

@b1

Its so odd, always on a Tuesday. Why is Tuesday always the day?

For me, it was the first working day of a month after a holiday.

Last month, it was the last day of the month.

But next Tuesday, April 28th? Why?

@b1 Absolutely, nothing you can do if you're already on the list.

Build an emergency fund, invest in yourself and maybe don't enter into any new financial arrangements before the end of the month.

At least anyone affected in EMEA should have a longer consultation and notice period than the US where it was same day notice and termination.

Number is between 500-800, the reality is the lists are already prepared and you’ll find out on the 28th April. Until then not much you can do. So quit stressing.

800 is what I heard. That's from a total headcount of around 4,500

@a7 the people who would know this information in advance are probably not making or reading the posts on this site. The are paid high salaries to keep internal news internal.

A number of people on here have been saying UK RIFs will start on 28th April. But the fact is, if anyone here actually knows anything it's impossible to distinguish whatever they say from the number of stupid troll posts on here.

Yes, there will be RIFs in the UK ... It's hardly likely we'll be spared if every other region is affected. But when they will happen, and how devastating they will be is anyone's guess.

I learned a while ago that this forum is only really useful for discussing what HAS happened rather than what WILL happen because of the number of bullsh-tters on here. I have no idea what they get out of disseminating false information, but it must be something, because they keep coming back.
