Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Using this place as a stepping stone

I'm not sorry I joined but I'm not staying for long. Everything people are talking about here is true. I'm basically just looking to pad my resume (this still looks good on a resume so that's a plus) as I look for something else. Something tells me I'm not the only one who thinks and feels this way, something I hope management will take into consideration. Not likely, I know.

It must not be that bad. If it was, then you would bet on yourself and do the work to land another job.

Change is hard, especially for older folks. But wallowing in misery isn’t worth it. What decisions you make or don’t make, you own either way.

Do what you have to do then move on
Hopefully you find something better soon

Are you sure it looks good on the resume?

It's too late for me to leave, I'm too close to retirement. I'm happy younger folks are seeing this place for what it is, though. Good on you.

I’m with you.. but my question is. People say if you’re not happy or it sucks here, just leave. What about your family? Your bills? Your survival? You can’t just get up and leave one day.. i find that a reason why people stay is because they have no choice and it takes them longer to get the new job because their current one takes up so much of their time.
