Companies are now veering away from the preferred hiring of ivy league college graduates mainly due to the risk that if hired, they’d protest at the drop of a hat over any perceived injustice. For the past 4 years its become en vogue to spin up a protest, sit in, camp in, whatever you want to call it, at least once per year or more. This last go around over the Israeli\Palestine conflict is pushing the corporate world to turn away from preferring ivy league graduates. Its become not worth the risk.
Along with the above, the same is said about DEI hiring. Assessments show that companies that have a high DEI score, also have an increased risk spanning from lower productivity, higher degree of mistakes and outages. Assumed that more time needed to grow into the role, allowances were made. After a few years, the numbers were either the same or worse. Now, companies still tow the DEI line but its no longer the “hire exclusively DEI candidates”. Hire some but not as wholeheartedly as before.
