Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Chevron layoff lawsuit

Many employees are being let go just days or months before they become eligible to divest their stock or earn key health benefit points. These terminations appear to bypass established protocols, and the discretion exercised by management could be interpreted as intentional and harmful to the employees’ interests. I’m looking for a recommendation for a high-profile attorney who can represent affected employees

I also heard that the comparable Houston severance package is a much better payoff than ABU based on the cost of living and some other factors but don't let that bother you, mate, it's all good. No need to get your undies in a wad.

@kx, Because of the higher Cost of Living in Australia the severance package in the US, for instance, TX was actually more generous than that in the ABU.
So much for your weak attempt at making a comparison. It's no different than comparing wages and salaries from city to city. There are superficial large differences that end up buying the same groceries and rent payment or maybe less. Sure, you can move after, but that's added expense and if you're lucky maybe you'll break even.
Tell us you know nothing about economics without telling us you know nothing about economics.

Move HQ to TX is a good move where there are generally less workers rights. The US in general has limp workers rights. Ask the ABU crew if they got the same severance deal as US workers…

That's not a "great idea" nor do you have any legit case. Agreements not to sue are signed when receiving any type of severance, anywhere, at any company, also when you take settlement payments for stock class actions, which happen quite frequently. It is not considered coercive, never has, never will be. You are free to sign or not and have been highly compensated all along the way. Layoffs that are done by the rules are perfectly legal, regardless of any employees other prospects, that's irrelevant. But do try to continue on with this fantasy and waste your time and money. Perhaps you can make an unscrupulous lawyer more wealthy and you may even get a few more pennies out of it. It's rare but does happen.

I think this is a great idea.

I suspect there is a lot of discrimination going on and they are hiding behind severance.
The questions is, is the severance worth it with absolutely zero job prospects out there for our industry and can signing the agreement to not sue in exhance for severance be considered coersive?

Hopefully someone brings a lawsuit against OP for their frivolous claims.

If you're fired right before your
stock vests and there's no
performance or behavioral issue, it can look suspicious.

Ever heard of at will employment? No attorney will touch your case.
