Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

SE voluntary offers 685 outside techs

Anyone taking the offer? My I&R FT buddy is taking it, has 40+ years service but he’s only 63 yrs old. Said he can’t take this madness anymore, AT&T current leadership is incompetent and should have been fired a long time ago. Now the employees, families and communities have to pay the price. Downright unethical or criminal that the unchecked few ruin thousands of lives and a company.

I was 57 with 39 years when I retired. Certainly believable.

Your right, that company troll must be from HR, seems to like age discrimination around here. That’s mostly who has been targeted for the last several years.

@qtw

I think that’s everyone’s own decision to decide how long they want to work. This isn’t a socialist state lat time I checked. Keep your opinions to yourself and quit trying to distract from how poorly this company has been ran for last 15 years, Troll.

You are correct about safety, we just were notified today that they want installs to be BAU, like COVID-19 is over. They want techs to go inside and install an AT&T branded jack, do WiFi assessment and run a new cat 5 wire. Of course at the end they put at techs discretion for legal purposes but it won’t stop managers from harassing to meet dashboard metrics. It never stops

Average Male lifespan is 76 in the US. Money can't buy you extra time. Would you rather work two more years and enjoy life or would you rather waste two more years and complain away your life...

I work with a admim that has 38 years and is 56...

Unfortunately this company is not what it once was. A good paying job with benefits at no cost or minimal amount at appointment. We enjoyed work and your co workers, now craft is divided by appendices, Perm vs Term and management's treament/actions. Offical Company training is1\2 if not less than in the past, outside plant safety is not at all 1st level mgmt top priority. Unfortunately it will (maybe) force the company to take a look at what they created. Good luck to all in the future...with or without AT&T.

People need to contact their representatives and administration about this train wreck. It’s time for some changes in publicly owned Corporate structures.

Yeah most of the techs I work with would like to work until full social security age of 66 or 67. Anything wrong with that? That’s what a lot of people strive for if health or other circumstances don’t get in the way.
