belk is being sued over it's ''best of belk" award program, the lawsuit claims the award is arbitrary, based on favoritism and rigged, and that qualifications for the awards are unclear. the lawsuit claims that store managers pick the winners and that employee votes do not count.

@p4 the nominations are just for show at my store. I like I’ve said before it’s all politics and favoritism here.
Our store manager said it was a way to encourage the lowest paid assocaites. Most of them were support.
Our store is the same ones every year. Nobody votes and I have seen managers put names in and it is always the same ones who get it. Don't get me wrong, these employees are good workers and make goals but it seems a waste of time.
if associates got gratis or extra discount or other perks for the award it could be a discrimination issue. they would have a good case .
Not sure what they expect...no different than Employee of the Month awards. Can't imagine they will win anything
