Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Worst department at allstate to work

For context I work in the CCC and am fine with workload and work life balance. However, I keep seeing how awful claims is. Does anyone else outside claims dislike their department?

The worst department? Have you heard of the department that does agency recruiting, they did a name change to NAPR recently. I wonder what the inspire results will look like for them.

@oqm+1axUyMd0 not sure what you did in the region or now the zone, but no one I know is happy that is on the sales side, yes some that were let go ended up coming back but it wasn't at the same level for most of them, a whole bunch of them were S4 and were hired back at C1. The sales side is working at least 10 hour days and with some recent announcements it is going to get worse.

@1mco+1axUyMd0 Who said anything about tenured employees? I agree BTW that they need to be gone. Employees with less then 5 years are being rejected for the internal jobs, one after another. Internal mobility is a joke and this is someone in the trenches daily.

@shj+1axUyMd0 going outside the company isn't necessarily bad. Getting new talent with fresh ideas instead of lifers that don't want to change is good for a company.

Talent Acquisition and it’s a joke, pi–––s me off to have jobs filled where no posting was made or we are instructed to look at external applicants or rehires before BTE internals. They are “flipping” the staff because those with tenure are paid more or are aware/seen their dirty tactics. Clean slate attitudes and less pay are why internals are being rejected over and over again. It’s not you!

I'm in auto adjust. It is not as bad as people here say. Busy for sure but it is all about how you approach your tasks. And if you communicate well the first time and look ahead in communications your call backs are greatly reduced. I think those in claims who complain the most put themselves in the position with how they approach and perform their work.

Writing estimates for Auto claims is the worst . Having to sift through 30–60 poorly taken photos and having to tell a shop we aren’t going to pay the $10k they want is the worst. Without half the adjusters laid off we have 2–3 times the workload in my zone and have been told they’re trying to hire back about 150 adjusters to help us. They’ve acknowledged they got rid of too many adjusters and assure us by end of the summer we’ll be fully staffed again. It’s not having a poor attitude like one person posted here. Allstate has acknowledged they messed up . There’s cars sitting at towyards over 4 weeks and it’s taking 4–5 days to do a virtual assist with shops plus shops are tired of adjusters not going out to write the estimates. It’s not us being lazy or inefficient, it’s that we don’t have adequate staffing .

I work prop adj and I am glad and happy with my role. It is a lot busier for obvious reasons the last 6 months or so but not anything that can't be managed. I never have worked over 50 hours in a week and keep good pace with my files. I haven't had any issues that have hurt my morale and focus to keep up with the increases. Sure there are days that are not as good as others but I enjoy what I do. We all have to get used to the new norm. This is how it is now. Makes the day go by faster too.

I work in claims, specifically property claims as an adjuster. It's always been busy and stressful but since the layoffs and since a lot of new changes in 2021, it's gotten unmanageable. I can't work on any of my files because I'm always getting rollover calls for auto claims (our phone system is seriously messed up), or I'm trying to help emergencies on a co–worker's files. I've gotten expected or BTE for every year I've been here (5+) but this year has pushed my cycle time and quality reviews to worrisome levels because I just don't have the time to do my own work.

I work the zone (regions) and an very happy. I was laid off last year due to the mass re–org but it was desperately needed. It was a total mess. Most of my group was hired back earlier this year at similar positions within the new zones and we kept our pay and tenure.

We have great work/life balance and leadership seems recharged and refreshed after the re–org. We are not overworked and not stressed but we are constantly working and earning our pay. I have nothing to complain about.

It seems claims and legal are the two areas of most disgruntled. I get that with the cuts the workload us much higher and with the benefit of being exempt more hours put in. But I think a lot of it is attitude as well. You get what you put in and I know claims folks that are most happy and content and others in the same exact position that are just miserable and sour. These miserable sour people I know are known for their aggressive attitudes and self importance. There is definitely a correlation from what I have seen. I do know the conditions in claims is not ideal but I have been told that it is not as bad as described here. My claims adjuster peers that are happy with their role say a focused and efficient adjuster should not have to put in more than 45–48 hours a week to get their work done. They said if people are truly working 50–60 hours a week on their files then it us due to work behaviors and work practices and habits that they need to do some self adjustment and self resolution with.
