Thread regarding ViaSat Inc. layoffs

Ouch.

https://techcrunch.com/2024/09/17/why-united-chose-spacexs-starlink-to-power-its-free-wifi/

To dig a bit deeper into why United went with Starlink, what that rollout will look like, and what it means for passengers and crew, we talked to United’s Chief Customer Officer Linda Jojo.

“If I could have done this change earlier, I certainly would have, because we’re proud of a lot of things, but we do think that our customers deserve a better Wi-Fi experience than the one they have today,” Jojo told me when I asked why the company is changing providers now.

Don't be daft. United quite clearly pubilized StarLink will be rolled out to all their planes. Gooroo says this doesn't affect Viasat planes. You are now ok with management lying to you. Cool.

Kuiper is the real coffin nail to be worried about. After amazon bullies their way into winning the contracts keeping viasat on life support by underbidding and eating the losses, there won't be much left to do.

So Starlink are going after aviation and it looks like they will get their share. Which will include some of our current share.

Then let's see what Kuiper go after. What I am hearing is that Kuiper want to take Government and Maritime from Geo. Kuiper is not sure there is profit in aviation.

I wonder how the effort to get the government's of the world to restrict the number of LEOs is going.

You can trip and fall, and still be able to get back in the race. You can't, however, get back up after falling out of the plane.

Fake news. MD explictly said at an all hands that when customers ask for LEO they don't know what they are asking for. In MD we trust.

Viasat scores badly on marketing and branding.

JP Morgan analyst Philip Cusick downgrades Viasat (NASDAQ:VSAT) from Overweight to Neutral and lowers the price target from $29 to $15.

I think that's a typo. Price target is more like $5
