Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Any idea on SBG layoffs this Feb?

Does anyone know if there will be any layoffs in the SBG , considering that it’s one week now after the earnings call?

Btw chick is not a hardware guy - he is a math guy who made it in sales. And was replaced by chambers in the hope he might be invited back to lead again.

For the longest time it’s been in the Cisco DNA that they are a hardware company - every software acquisition is treated suspiciously. For all his math background chuck took the markets advise and has ‘stayed on the enabling software’ train.

But wow does cisco need to prove it is a software subscription businesss. It’s pretty clear the markets and analysts are yet to be convinced when you keep seeing the aristas and pnw marching all over former Cisco’s turf.

If you’re reading chuck and ELT - long long way to go. And yes some of the ELT also - have to go. Stop keeping placeholders and just admit they’re there to make some noise. Those are some pretty expensive noise makers and you make the whole ELT look bad when you have clownish placeholders in there.

I mean Apple makes as much profit as you guys make revenue - think about that. Take a pause and get/promote some real leaders that get stuff done and run the show like it’s meant to be run for goodness sake.

The latest news!! Karen Kui was fired!! The reason? She is a low talent technical writer and is not qualified to be a PMO let alone a PMO leader.

@nx

If you work in Cisco and don’t understand why Cisco jump into the security game

Oh I understand why, CR was attracted by the allure of subscription revenue, thinking he could create the kind of printing press Microsoft has with their recurring subscription revenues.

But CR is just another hardware guy who thinks software is "easy". He's not alone, Michael Dell is another one.

If you work in Cisco and don’t understand why Cisco jump into the security game. No wonder why Cisco is exactly where it is in terms of security.

They need to get rid of Mike L who leads sales. Horrible leader who does not care about his employees. No enterprise leadership skills.

They're running out of people to safely layoff in SBG. Most teams are cut down to a skeleton staff and can barely manage minimal maintenance commitments let alone grow their services in a competitive landscape. We all know what the next phase is - buying time by moving to Bangalore.

What is the allure for Cisco shareholders in running antiquated security services which rank poorly in their respective segments and hardly have revenue? No one can answer the simple question: Why is Cisco even in the security business?
