Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Give me one reason to be invested in this job

I need to pay the bills. But I'm not going to bust my a-s for a paycheck. Everything else is an insult to our intelligence. Forget promotions or a decent raise. They work you as hard as they can get away with, and then kick you to the curb. So, as far as I'm concerned - no overtime, no hard work, and I couldn't care less about outcomes. Passable coasting is all I'm willing to do until a better opportunity comes along.

A friend said that they got the lowest percentage raise that they’ve gotten in years and they were told that that was what was given for their pay grade across the board. I don’t understand how they can possibly think they’re incentivizing people to continue working at the pace and level they’re working at. Earnings showing the company had a great year, but the employees aren’t seeing any benefit other than more work.

@my You'd be depressed to if the only real reward for your hard work is more work and never ding process changes that only increase the time and effort it takes to get the job done. For my job in particular what took 3 clicks in 2015 now takes around 15.

You don’t have to stay. And guess what? no one else does either. If you don’t like it, go find another job. Simple.

A lot of people on this platform sound like long-term employees who love to talk about resigning but somehow never actually do it. If you’re that unhappy, then just resign already.

I spent 10 years at Dell and finally decided I’d had enough after being stuck in a toxic team for the past two years. The manager was fine, but the team? Not so much. With everything going the way it was, I chose to leave. Found another position at a different company and moved on.

So instead of endlessly complaining, maybe try doing something about it. It’s really not the end of the world.

@af I think you mean this 9 million dollar company that has fleeced investors out of billions of dollars.

Because Dell does not have the technical leadership nor the technical engineering skills to advance an acquisition's technology. This has been proven over and over and over again. Dell acquires companies for existing revenue streams and milks them until they're gone.

“Until a better opportunity comes along” AKA “I’m not going to do anything about it, just gonna moan on this forum and rot my career away at Dell until WFR”

@OP No but I can give you 67 reasons why NOT to be invested.

The final stage of a company's demise is when employees don't give a damn anymore. That's how you know it's over.
