Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Network Organization L1/L2 Layoffs 4Q

Sat in on my L3 call given he was out PTO. AVP has announced network wide large cut of L1/L2s across Anatomy, Leggy, and Greendick organizations. Capex/Expense being cut for automation given known reduction in workforce. End of payroll is before EOY. No preferential treatment for Dallas and Atlanta employees. Sorry to those that recently moved.

RTO is old news. Yes we have returned to BAU cuts.

I'll take things that didn't happen for $1000.

@nq then you’re going to be here until you drop, because they aren’t going to pay those huge union packages. Not happening. They will layoff the younger folks and then make you as miserable as possible.

So we ain't leaving until they pay us to leave.

Obvious bullsh-t. Layoffs are not communicated in this manner and especially not with an L2 fill in present on the call. You’d have been boxed out of the invite and even if this were somehow true it would be painfully obvious who you were and you wouldn’t post it. Just fearmongering.

One thing the negative commenters don't get in their tiny minds is that we get 5 weeks plus 3 days paid vacation, 8 paid holidays, 10 paid sick days in our city, plus FMLA, funeral times, etc etc so we get about 20% of the days per year off PAID, and when we DO go to work, we do the very minimal so to not get fired. And we laugh about doing so little actual work while getting paid so well... it's funny and I don't give one flying fck what anyone says.

“ Leg T/CWA union workers with over 31 years get 104 weeks pay for VTP (Voluntary Termination Package) or Involuntarily layoff, so this is why we won't retire until they pay us to leave. Two years pay, and then start pension payments, 401k distributions and social security $$$ = nice entitlements.”

They are NEVER going to do that, so you are wasting what’s left of your life hoping for that offer. It’s never coming. You’ll be there until the day you drop. Doubt you’ll ever get to see any of that money, but I’m sure your wife will enjoy that retirement money one day. That is just the reality. They say it every time it’s asked, not happening now or ever again. Those days are never coming back.

"But most don’t really WANT to be laid off. If wanting or able to leave, they would already be gone;"

I could not wait to leave, I was not about to walk away from a six-figure severance, then in less than six weeks I had my new gig.

Context is probably true and I really wouldn’t be surprised, but OP, you in danger girl. I’m sure they can easily identify who you are based on that info you provided.

While this may end up happening anyway, I find this very suspicious from a legitimately standpoint. It would be very obvious who this "anonymous" FTE is based on what they described and it is really unlikely anyone in that position would reveal themselves like this. That being said, good luck to us all...

“ Yup keep going at the L1 and L2s, and make sure you keep all of those AVPs, VPs, SVPs, and EVPs. Makes perfect sense.”

Must protect the fiefdom…at the expense of the lowly worker bees. 🙄

There's so many of us who WANT to be laid off however we sort of enjoy our jobs most of the time and the money is so easy - we agree that we won't just retire until there's either a voluntary offer or we're laid off, because we all know something is inevitably going to happen as our work is gradually being automated and off-shored. Meanwhile, my work group just hangs out at work laughing about all the silly cr@p going on in this cr@zy world - as we get paid well.
