Pay bonus back?

Anyone has any idea if you leave within a year of joining, will they make you pay back the bonus? What if you get piped within a year?

Background, joined recently and I’m shocked. Engineering talent is mediocre, and the politics is too much. I knew it would be toxic but I justified it with the experience I felt I’d get and talent I’d be surrounded by. Somehow I was wrong and the talent is very mediocre at best. Looking to jump ship asap

@OP best thing you can do to "payback" the company is the leave negative reviews everywhere. Tell your story and what you saw. Plus, it gives you extra entertainment when you see the HR's weigh in to try and say the review is not a good example of the company. So funny to watch them squirm!

I resigned the day my bonus hit my bank. I got the standard request to payback my PTO but nothing ever came of it and it’s been over 3 years.

Ou need to look at your iffer letter. If you were given a sign on bonus and leave within X number if years you would need to pay it back. Often times it's prorated but some offers state that if you have to stay for 2 years and you don't you'll have to give back the full amount.

Just check Pulse - you can find what you are seeking if you search PIP, severance, etc. You can always “trust” HR, just call and ask..after you provide your EID! Bwahahahaahha!
