Someone mentioned that things will be a little different with layoffs this year, compared to the layoffs that happened last year. Any thoughts on what will be different this time?
I guess things can only get worse (especially when it comes to severance pay). It would be foolish to expect something better.

They like running it short staffed. Squeezing more out of folks left.
@nog+1aJ2adjp, I guess they did not bother to check the laws in my state becasue if you have to sign a release to get the severance, you can still get unemployment. Oh, and I did get an SSP offer.
I didn't hear anything about layoffs this year...in fact my department is short handed.
Severance will likely be limited to employees with 5 years of service or more that live in states that disqualify you from unemployment if you receive severance... That is what they royally fu---d up when they did last year's layoffs
