All employees were laid off yesterday without warning. All told they were terminated and done after the call. No Managers involved, it was cold hearted AIG at its best delivered news read from transcript!

While I agree its done professionally as far as the compensation and outplacement, etc., there's few times I see it done with any compassion. While I realize we're professionals and this stuff happens, a thank you from your management is nice. When I was RIF'd the HR person seemed more nervous and uncomfortable than me. The manager said 3 sentences (prepared) and then said I'll love you with the HR rep. Both with AIG and other companies I needed to lay off people and let go of consultants. I treated them like professionals but also treated them like human beings and showed some empathy (not sympathy but empathy). The cold nature of AIG doesn't need to be this way.
Ridiculous company they were very unprofessional and the managers didn't seem to care
Webex call to close the whole office in Farmington Office. 1p minutes to tell us done, shut off computers ,HR will call you about severance pay and STI and tell you all the wrong info.
Tim J and HR dont know anything. Very unprofessional ASSES . Took money from government pretending to keep workers on, once they received funds to put in their pockets f th on covid, they let all employee go onFinance/Customer Service some left there trying to recruit to other vendors, so AIG can get back severance package.
They hired a temp agency to help you look but beware
They want your severance back to give to PZ/BD pockets
To Post ID: @3khc+15Rjwuw2 you are right. I was RIF'd and I could have provided a lot of useful information,
It will get worse. Much worse. I have Accenture now calling me daily asking "how to do this"? Why do I have tell them anything? Given they bill at 175 per hour you'd think they would know something.
Accenture and Indians. That's what the outlook is for IT. And AIG200 will fail but they will lie and declare success. If you're smart then you're looking, although getting challenging to find roles in some areas.
To Post ID: @1rwi+15Rjwuw2 I wondered about the WARN ACT because as a dept., all 43 RIF's were under the MMS dept
So what he gave them 3 months notice ! He drove it all the way into the ground - period. He took so much money from this company it’s simply awful. The ignorant board members who refused to follow Ichans lead and divid the company up were looking to take their money and bail. The over inflated hype of BD was smoked mirrors to bleed the coffers even moor! Horrible situation and best of luck to everyone!
For those of you that worked for Direct DME, when were you first advised that Direct DME was being closed? Does CT have WARN notice requirements to lay off and shut down over 20 people, and a line of business?
With regard to BD's Blackboard business that he is closing at the end of August, he gave those people at least 3 months of notice that he was shutting down that business.
@1vzg+15Rjwuw2 MIND BLOWN
RIFed is FIRed inside out
To Post ID: @1fky+15Rjwuw2. All I can say is that I am glad I got RIF'd before they change the severance package, take away more benefits and sell more parts of GI. It's only a matter of time for our counter parts and they will be on there way out too. This company has turned from a great company to a hole in the wall. The only people that will benefit are Senior Management....whether they stay or go
It was group call
Yes It was an entire group over 20 people and I agree that after years of eating crow with this company Management could be human beings for ONCE and say one sentence thank you for your years of service instead you get just boot up the toosh and don’t let the door hit you on the way out. Most Employees booted had contributed over 10 years of BS
To Post ID: @nly+15Rjwuw2 yes there are more RIF's to come. As stated by WP, as an organization they are continually reviewing staffing requirements to align with the strategy and accelerate the work to transform AIG. This is going to be looked at carefully as they are trying to simplify MMS/HDI structure and watch WC go up for sale. Keep your eyes and ears open and be ready because there are more RIF's anticipated. This is very sad but it's also true.
RIFs at AIG are done in professional manner.
I have been subjected to one.
The impacted person receives:
- Severance proportionate to their service
- PTO paid out
- Any other expenses pending reimbursement are also paid.
- Outplacement agency: which provides resume writing services and career coaches, who are good as long as you leverage them well.
Now, it is a different aspect that the RIFs are not well thought out because in GI, they terminated a full time individual & hired the person back as consultant (for 3 months) after severance period was over. Only 1-2% folks get lucky like this!
more to come!
This is ridiculous! Don’t management have any guts? Why are they rifting people and are too chicken to look at the people they are rifting in the face????
Yes Post ID: @xxe+15Rjwuw2 of course severance was given. It was a RIF
Ruthless
How many people were impacted?
"All" does not tell us how many :)
How may people were laid off?
Was a severance package offered?
Was it through a webex or individual calls?
