LinkedIn resignations increasing

Seemed like there was a lull in resignations on my feed from mid December but the last week has seen a definite uptick. Nice that people have the courage to vote with their feet.

@bhg+1eZgmWS6 No, they literally are. It’s in the training for the Global Smart Form that supervisors have to submit for every departure. All resignations are considered reason code N0 (Resignation-Regretted), with the exception of things like Death or transfer to a different country. Non-voluntary terminations are not considered resignations and are coded differently.

@bbx — Cube resignation photos are often found with hashtags #exxodus or #thegreatresignation on LinkedIn.

I can’t figure out who eyelashes is. Did she come from Baytown?

@nvk+1eZgmWS6 All resignations aren’t regretted ones. Many are, but many aren’t.

Personally when I left I had nothing against the culture at all. I didn’t leave for family, but for money. Big tech just pays literally 2x better with a higher ceiling for what I do. Culture didn’t play a factor. I know for some of my coworkers who left as well it was the same. I enjoyed working at XOM, just tech pays better for tech jobs. By a lot.

You’re a real gem though, I’m sure. Bringing millions to the shareholder pockets!

My LinkedIn not showing the Cube photos that you mentioned, but I am seeing a flood of posts by New Hires that are so excited about starting their careers at EM.

Due to the number of such postings, I conclude 2 things:

  1. EM is hiring at an amazing rate for a company reducing headcount.
  1. These New Hires have been instructed to make those posts for good publicity. Threatened if not post.

OK, I think I figured out who lashes is. She was the person who dealt with my PIPs a couple years ago. Her attire during the teleconferences (it was a work from home time period) was completely inappropriate for work, but I didn't mind, lol. Total smoke show.

@gmr+1eZgmWS6 Definitely!
Eyelashes will go on to fire people in other companies, like that movie where the consultants come to heartlessly reduce personnel and summarily hand over the separation packages.

@isr because PIPs happen in late summer. All other times departures are almost certainly regretted resignations.

@bqg+1eZgmWS6 - team leaders and managers always believe that people leave the company due to personal reasons and want to be closer to the family...Hence some people are willing to take a slight pay cut for the new job...but you never hear managers mentioning about the "toxic" culture in the company...if the problem is not addressed, you will see that the young employees that "happily" announced joining the company will leave after few years....culture take years to change and not with "WAEM" slogan...

Not too surprised to see people leaving to work for consulting firms. One of my coworkers resigned last week to join BCG. I read that there's a tough competition for experienced workforce, especially in the US, as the “MBB” (McKinsey, Bain, BCG) and their less prestigious competitors are loosing their brilliant 3-5 years of experience consultants often leaving to work for Tech companies.

Wow. I’ve seen a bunch. If I left I would be too embarrassed to post it. My guess is attrition is much much higher. And yes management applauds it all as that’s what DW wants. How f—Ed up

@nlh+1eZgmWS6 I saw that! Eyelashes went to management consulting. Seems like a perfect fit tbh. Lots of people leaving for consulting these days. Finished spinning bs here and destroyed a once-great company, now moving on to their next victims?

It is so ridiculous to see people in management to congratulate those that leave!

three people in my team left voluntarily sept-oct 2021 and nothing seems to affect the team leaders. Projects now rely on third-party consultants. it's insane the lack of accountability from XOM.
