Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Eligible for severance

Anyone know what happens after you decline the move? How long do they keep me around waiting ? I’ve handed off all my work to other members of the team and cross training is complete. The letter says up to the discretion of my leadership.

The timelines seem to be tightening. Previous waves had 6-8 months. It seems like those who declined in Feb of this year will be gone this month or next based on the rumors.

Worst of all, they used to give a timeline and now they just let you know when your final two weeks officially start. Kind of a sick last joke.

@ca For my previous team a majority opted not to move when the February deadline came. They were off payroll the first of July (we were lead to believe they were going to stay until the end of 2024)

It's anyone's guess. Some people have been waiting almost 2 years, but they're apparently still needed in their groups/projects. Some are gone within the month.

no fixed timeline, as another poster mentioned, it's at management's descretion. I declined the relocation offer in Feb 2024, was kept until Nov but some folks were let go in May and July. My AD did tell me he would try his best to keep me to EoY while working to get approval for me to be fully remote.

Once you say you aren’t moving you have no control on the time frame.

They'd like you to find another job and quit, so they dont need to pay severance.

The date changes based on many factors. I know in our team some people declined to move for the letter received back during Feb 2024 forced move. They were told the same..up to the discretion of management on how long they could remain. They were hoping to stay till EoY but were off payroll by June 1 2024. Not that it could be similar in your case…but just sharing here

Depends on what group you're in but in wireless builds most is July and if not itll be end of year.

You will likely be getting your surplus notice on the 16th. A lot of employees who have also decided to quit are being impacted in the June wave.
