ChatGpt is pretty good huh?
He is responsible for the products being in the state they are, just doing what the “fad du jour” CEO wakes up with.
ELT needs a 100% reboot.
From an academic and analytical perspective, the career transition of Muhi Majzoub should be viewed within the broader framework of executive leadership succession, organizational loyalty, and strategic corporate restructuring. Majzoub has demonstrated exceptional leadership capabilities, and his continued tenure beyond conventional retirement age suggests a strong commitment to both OpenText and CEO Mark Barrenechea. His transition to cybersecurity can be interpreted as a structured exit strategy, allowing for a phased succession plan.
Savinay, whose leadership approach has been subject to critical evaluation, is positioned to assume control of engineering. However, Majzoub’s continued presence likely serves to mitigate transitional friction, ensuring operational stability and knowledge transfer. Given the typical vesting schedules of executive compensation, it is reasonable to hypothesize that Majzoub’s formal retirement announcement may coincide with the September–October timeframe, aligning with stock and option maturation.
Following his departure, a Vice President from the cybersecurity engineering division is a plausible successor. This move would align with standard industry practices wherein leadership roles in cybersecurity, a critical and expanding domain, are filled with individuals possessing deep technical expertise and strategic acumen.
From a financial and personal standpoint, Majzoub has reached a stage where retirement is both feasible and well-earned. With financial security, homeownership, and independent children, he is well-positioned to transition into post-career life. His departure, when formally announced, will likely mark the conclusion of a distinguished career characterized by sustained contributions to technological innovation and corporate leadership.
Opentext is a large organization that moves slowly and isn’t making the required investment to grow a serious cyber security business.
Portfolio is a group of disjointed products brought together through dozens and dozens of acquisitions. Who has been made to integrate any of the products or make them better. The products are simply seen as cash cows that milk with minimal investment.
Security products require huge investments in R&D and from what I can see, simply isn’t making the investment. They keep cutting every quarter to show more profitability to investors without any regard about product competitiveness.
I don't know about selling it off, but product marketing for enterprise cybersecurity had at least 2 layoffs (maybe more) today. So I am off to the job hunt!
That’s quite a demotion!

Must know more. Who will be taking his role for the rest of the company?
Reflecting on my time with Webroot/Carbonite, I'd love to see OpenText spin off their cybersecurity products into a separate company.
I doubt OT will sell cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is a growth sector. Whether OT products get investment, innovate and sell, that's a different story.
Don't tease me.
