Rewarding a Select Few

Over my time at Fiserv I have noticed one very prominent theme. A select few (often with lackluster work ethic) are rewarded with bonuses, raises, extra privileges, while at the same time the ones actually getting the work done are designated as “work horses” who will get the job done and be told “you are lucky to have this position, with some luck you may see a promotion in a few year!”. They wonder why half the company has silently revolted and the stock is where it is. I have seen people on my team leave for high paying roles and when asked why HR is shocked to find out that they left due to being overworked and under paid. Don’t even get me started on the retention bonuses. My advice to young professionals is this: DO NOT under any circumstances accept being a work horse and yes man. This company does not respect hard work. Ask for more money and ask early, put the pressure on them. Make sure you are applying elsewhere to get counter offers, the market is tough but it can be done.

For get a job. I retired in 2019 before Sapience. My entire department of 26 smart people left on their own over a year. My IBM time was under the cursed Akers era and Yabuki was mostly good. 2900 Westside parkway on second west so I know of what I speak. No go ride that rocket

@OP HR frankly does not care. The team I was with had about 100 people (100 is an exaggeration). When I left the team I saw a like 6-7 people leave within weeks. Now I am hearing around 23 people left within the last 7-8 months across the dept. I heard from coworkers that HR knows about the abuse in that dept and multiple people have complained about the same individuals over the years Going back to 2022 and nothing got done except the people who were trying to make it work leaving for better opportunities or leaving for their mental health. Now from what my old coworkers are saying the dept only has 3 people that are older than 1-2 years..the senior leadership on that dept makes sure no one stays longer than 1-2 years, they are all covering their own positions.

I enjoyed my time at Fiserv before it was sapienced - some years back and before that stints as a consultant and with dear old IBM - learned a few things. The company is NOT your friend and do not treat it as such. In a clinch you look out for yourself. Put in your best work and at the end of the day go home - end of your shift - alive. Family first. Health second. Earn your paycheck but not at some expense. Fiserv WAS a fine place, problems yes, but not bad. So today - work and look elsewhere. Look out for yourself.

If it’s so easily done, trust me, you won’t be whining here. Get a life, or find another job. Oh right, you can’t. So fine…
