Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The grass really is greener!

I left Chevron recently from one of the hotly-debated functions in this forum facing turnover issues. I left because the function has been reduced to transaction-based chaos. I really loved all of my colleagues at Chevron, but the devaluation of my work and career development for the sake of saving money didn’t feel worth it anymore and was starting to affect my personal life.

I just wanted to tell those in the same situation, facing the same decision, that the grass really is greener on the outside. Other employers are offering a value proposition that still includes strategic work, thoughtful interaction with the business, career development, and energy and growth. If you’re struggling to know whether or not the function at Chevron is the right place for you… just know that while “the good old days” at Chevron might be gone and the writing is on the wall about the future of the company, there’s a HUGE world outside of O&G that’s really prospering and you can find your place there if you want it! Hope everyone is doing well.

One last thing as you are leaving. Don’t forget the time and money the Company spent to further your skill set presumably after College. Good luck to you and applying those skills to your new position.

The grass is greener if you have the right skills and talent to find a good job. If you are a loser your are SOL.

I second that. While I was laid off and received a hefty severance, I found another job in a another industry. 100% remote and less chaos. #winning

OP used so many corporate buzzwords I would have thought he / she would have been a perfect fit at CVX.

Sure you did. Do you think that the folks laid off and looking for work on the layoff.com would believe your tall tale for some strange reason?

But RM said there was no resignations this morning. This troll must be one of the many that has left her department and the many to follow.
